You seem like a cool person and I really do enjoy your humor and your posts entertain me very much. However, you are a damn idiot for not seeing how the plane will take off. The treadmill is only going to cause the wheels to spin faster. Thats all. That is the only thing that will change in comparison to a regular (no treadmill) takeoff. THE MOTHAFUCKIN PLANE WILL TAKEOFF!! A car would not be able to go forward but the plane will. Even a single prop Cessna would take off.

What if the black hole is also on the treadmill?

The picture from page 12 is a classic by the way.

The only thing that matters is the airspeed over the foil. If the plane achieves take off velocity, it will take off regardless of what the wheels are touching.

now you just want to make me quote every post of yours in your thread for preservation purposes.

If you would read at least some of the thread (I know, it is long) you would see that this is addressed... a dozen times. Both sides of the argument understand that a plane needs to move forward in order to achieve lift and take off. Duh. The people who think the plane takes off believe the plane will move forward regardless of the treadmill. If you want to understand why it moves forward, keep reading the thread.

edit: I can't believe I posted in this thead again.

A plane, whose engines thrust against the air, does move forward and subsequently takes off. A car, whose engines thrust against the ground, does not move forward because that thrust vector is negated 1-1 by the backwards rotation of the treadmill.

Can we now please fucking stop. The thread is akin to that show "Are you smarter than a 6th grader?" The answer of which should be obvious unless you're retarded.

Guys, I've got an update for you. I deliberately taxied onto a huge fucking treadmill the other day and tried to take off going against the motion of it, but it didn't work despite all 145 HP so I spun the plane around with some fancy differential braking and winked at the guy controlling the speed lever. He cranked it to eleven and I took off with the direction of the treadmill. Thing is, I had to hold my brakes on cuz otherwise I would have just staying in one position with my wheels rolling backwards. It was like being steam-a-pulted off an aircraft carrier.

    are you trolling me??

y'all are idiots. There's like 3 or 4 people who've posted in this thread who "get it," everybody else is just ridiculous -- whether they believe the plane takes off or not.

What the fuck is this 1-1 stuff? A = the forward speed of the plane. B = the forward speed of the treadmill. B = -A. The only time B and A are EQUAL is when they are both ZERO and nothing is moving at all -- no wheels, no treadmill, no plane. B = -A.

(yes, tippster, that is a very high horse i'm riding)

I am not trolling you. The car would not move forward... neither would your horse, regardless of height.
