Hey maggots...a new beginning

As maggots, we have the resources for greatness.

Enough to provide video hosting, image hosting and everything else beyond your wildest dreams. [/ND]

Anyway, I don't have the time to design it, but I'm sure a few of you do. Come up with a cool url, make a forum, complete with image/video hosting software and we'll make it happen. We can take this TGR forum, keep it with a different url, and subtract TGR from the header.

I don't care to moderate it, but I think voting by the maggots for what they want (members, etc,etc) is the way to go. For maggots, run by maggots.
Maggots can assume the server fees, and therefor own it. (roughly $100 a year) This makes total sense, and is the only way to go.

We need to put a few people in charge of it that have proved themselves as being very fair and neutral. Yossarian is the maggot that keeps coming up in my mind. He'd be perfect, but I don't know if he has the time for this. We could vote for other qualified good mags.

I'm not here to alienate any long time posters, PERIOD. Dex et al I've clashed with in the past would probably be against this, but I would have nothing to do with it, the person(s) we nominate would run it.
It's time maggots take control of maggots and make this happen. The time is here.

If we can raise thousands of dollars for people, we can certainly run our own server/forum.

It only makes sense.

I kind of like it here, I believe I will stay. You can start your forum where you can vote on who's cool and shit. Oh, and $100 a year????? This place in the slow season costs about 4k a month to host traffic, chat, video & images. Then of course your going to need a staff call when it crashes, then your going to need someone who counts the money....Hmm, might as well start a company.......

Why risk Daniel type history destruction?

These forums don't make TGR $$$, and new owners may see it as a problem. Why take the chance? We don't represent TGR in any way really anyhow, why not be independent? It only makes sense.

It wouldn't be anywhere near that much because the forum wouldn't be streaming live video or hosting photos... just text and minimalist graphics (smileys) traffic and running scripts

I care about maggots much more than I care about TGR. Our history needs to be in our control, not some company whos future is less than predictable.

I never quit TGR, I was laid off, ironically by myself. So did a lot of good people who still hope the best for what is left of TGR.

This forum is going to survive whatever happens to TGR, it has for close to a decade now. However why jump a good thing, why not wait and see. You have the words of a much better person than you that this thing isnt going away - and he controls the purse strings.

So get the fuck out, and don't let the door hit you in your big ol asshat head on your way, but me I like it here & I think I will hang around for a bit.
