I use the school's health insurance plan and it is very good. Go with that.

Our friend had a traumatic brain injury from a ski wreck and had to pay big $$$ out of pocket. I think they had a $100K max or something which doesn't go too far when your dealing with brain surgery and rehab for that kind of injury. FYI for a TAship, CU offered to pay 1/2 of my health ins if I did it through them.
That's good advice for any insurance. Most will ream you if you go out of their area, and most have limits that won't help you if you have a severely massive injury.

Random bump- but I just looked on CU's website, and their health care plan does cover you thru winter break and the summer. However, if you get treatment off campus, you have a $200 deductible and 80/20 co-insurance after that.

Is that bad? I don't know much about insurance (except that Kaiser SUCKS), but that seems about normal.

Its not bad... but if you can get your treatments at the campus facility, then there's no out of pocket cost to you except for a $10 co-pay.

$10 co pay! Man, that's highway robbery! It used to be free then changed to $5 during my time there (2000-2003).

Seriously, you'd be nuts to not go with their plan.

The only thing I don't like is not being able to be treated there, since I live 20 minutes away- but you're right, it is a great plan for $145 a month.
