You're right, he has done it 3 times in the last 9 years. Pretty hard to spin that bringing him in wasn't a completely desperate move.

I feel your pain, I can't wait 'til we get Lester as the #5 starter. I do like Okajima as a set-up/secondary reliever.

Concerning Tavarez...hes our 5th starter...hes not supposed to pitch well (of course I wish he did). Hes no worse than Karstens or Chevy Chase Wright. Or pindick Pavano though.
Lester is a couple weeks away from what I hear, and he is throwing lights out. Tavarez back to the pen where hes spent almost his entire career will probably help him out a lot, but who will be left out when Lester returns? Lopez should stay as a situational lefty (if hes not already in Pawtux) and Okajima obviously stays as an effective pitcher (and he just so happens to be lefty). Romero costs too much and may not have remaining options- I doubt they could option him to Pawtux. Donnelly is pitching well. Snyder? Could he go? Hes our only long man.
And glad to see Pedroia coming on. Hes been a great player at every level, he needs a chance and some time.

That's what I like to hear. CC is looking to add some zero's to his next contract with lights-out pitching this year,

gym-rat Hafner is punishing the opposition,

and they have the most promising rotation in the toughest division in baseball.
    GO TRIBE!

I don't think its the toughest division in baseball anymore. You could probably put the AL East and the NL East in front of them.

I still think that it is though. I know it's early but they have 4 teams above .500. AL East has 3 and NL east has 2. BoSox and Yanks are legit of course, and Toronto has a chance to make it interesting but TB and Baltimore aren't going to finish ahead of the other 3. Not too sure about the NL East, Florida Philly and Washington are among the 3 worst teams in baseball. You've got the past 2 AL champs, the always tough Twins and a powerful Indians squad in the central which I think will be much more interesting than a 2 horse race like it will be out east.

AL East has been the toughest division in baseball for awhile, and will continue to be until the Sox or NY run out of money (Toronto coming on, too). Cleveland is lucky the Central was created to keep them from playing Bos/NY 19 teams a season--that would not help them.

Tavarez needs to go back in the pen, soon. He's the epitome of a long reliever--not good enough to start, can't set-up or close, you just want him in there when you need to get through innings.

AL East has 2 of the toughest teams in baseball, but it is not the toughest division. There are 2, and until recently, possibly 3 versions of the Royals over there.

VERY thankful for the expanded divisions in baseball for many reasons. With ESPN's coverage of baseball so far this year, I feel like the AL East is the only division in baseball though...

    ESPN was AL Central tonight.

I'd have trouble classifying anyone in the AL East in the same category as the Royals, except possibly for the D-Rays, and the strange thing about them is they play very well against both Boston and New York.
The standard the Royals set last year was pretty damn low.

I know, it was refreshing given the last week was spent hyping Yanks/Sox and the week before that was spent recapping the first Sox/Yanks series.

Royals are the standard bearer for futility and I dont see anyone equaling their accomplishments. Except maybe the Nationals this year.

There were much more interesting things in baseball tonight that would have been nice to see such as Peavey's 16k's in a losing effort for SD or on a personal note, Rick Vaughn night at Jacobs Field.

Yeah. Nothing like going on a 6 game skid after a 5 game winning streak.

On the bright side... Biggio is only 49 hits away......
