just a play at the announcers. they couldn't stop talking about manny's slump, then he went LOONNGGG, then they spent 10 straight minutes repeating "he's got this great changeup and he's not afraid to use it. he loves using this change up. the changeup is what makes this kid a major league pitcher". then the other three immediately chimed in. good shit there boys

The announcers are absolutely horrible. I can't believe that Joe Morgan ever even played let alone managed with some of the shit that comes outta his mouth.

They've showed the same Barry Bonds highlight EVERY fucking inning. And I'm pretty sure that everyone in the booth would jump at the opportunity to give a rod a blowjob.

Gamebreak from inside my pants: I have a raging Papelboner.

Nice prediction Irul. Hey, where's that guy been all weekend?

What an excellent series. Production from every part of the order, tek got hot, the pitching wasn't necessarily fantastic (except the bullpen), but I attribute that more to the incredible Yankees lineup more than anything else.

yeah, right, I agree. What gives him the right? What, just 'cause he's a Hall of Famer from possibly the greatest team in history, and respected by his peers as a player and reporter? What a dumbass. I would much rather hear McCarver/Buck give me their wonderful, seering insight into our national pastime in between commercials for crap on FOX.

Well...I think Im starting to sober up. By the 7th inning Friday night I was in the early stages of a weekend long blackout and missed the whole series. The last I saw of this team, Manny was in a slump, Lowell cant hit anything over 90 mph, Varitek sucks, Coco is even worse, and Pedroia cant hit or field. Our bullpen is in shambles...the "other" japanese guy cant hit 85 on the gun...and Papelbon pitches too much.

Papelbon is absolutely sick. The split he threw to Damon- one of the best pitches I've EVER seen. I hope he stays healthy, because he's going to dominate as a closer for years to come.

And yes, the announcers are horrible. Joe Morgan is the worst on ESPN since Jeff Brantley left. I wish every game could be done by Dan Schulman, Orel Hershiser and Steve Phillips.

let Drew get your hopes up let them build and build ha.
and that series proved theold Baseball mantra, good hitting beats bad pitching any day.

oh and who has the most wins of any team in the majors?

McCarver and Buck are worse than Miller and Morgan, no doubt about it. But the M & M boys are almost as painful, with Miller's relentless goofiness and Morgan's self-righteous blather.

Whatever, Martha Stewart and Joan Rivers could have announced and I would have watched.

As far as announcers - I always enjoy listening to Bob Uecker. I was listening to some of the Astros/Brewers series on XM radio this weekend. I keep waiting for him to say something straight out of the movie Major League.

McCarver and Buck don't even count- they're so far below everyone else that I don't consider them announcers.

i mean who would of thought you cant compete with the elite in the league with no pitching ex cept a fading reliever.
    unpossible.
and I , like many, am sick of the board's and the media's 2 team focus, but there is a certain joy I take at the locals ALL looking gut punched after a beat down from the Red Sox.

No, he really is sick. Rumor has it that he has some disabling disease, maybe Alz. Although this doesn't make things better.

Pitching is coming back slowly. Wang is back any day, Moose right after that. Pavano soon, too. Then there's that Clemens guy.........
Mariano has gone through this before - Why the fuck he was in in the eighth when Torre said he was only a Ninth closer all spring is beyond me, but desperate times inspire stupid moves.

I cant wait for Pavano to come back for another 2 starts and go right back on the DL with a torn labia.

And this is the first time Ive ever seen a Yankee fan call April "desperate times".
Torre brought Rivera in because their bullpen sucks, just like he got DESPERATE and brought in Pettitte on Sunday because the bullpen sucks and noone else can get outs. Noone is coming off the DL to help in the pen, unless Wang/Pettitte/Mussina pitch the 7th inning on their off days every game.

    Actual Morgan quote:

"If that ball was over the plate, it would have been a strike."

    Are you fucking serious?

I also loved how he constantly contradicted himself.

You talk trash like a Yankees fan. Subtlety my friend. Subtelty. …and you're really good at trying to jinx shit. Pavano *was* going to get hurt again until you went and said something. Now he's going to break the backs of the sox with a win each time he facing them.

That wasn't the first time Pettitte has pitched in relief. He actually likes getting his off-day work in real games, instead of just throwing BP sessions.

I said the same thing about 3 weeks ago, and Pavano immediately went on the DL. No amount of jinxing or supernatural BS is going to keep Pavano healthy. He is a delicate human being, no matter who says what. And even if he stays healthy, he hasnt been good either. Ill give him decent or maybe average.

Smmokan- I love Pettitte pitching on off days though- havent seen it much since college, when the weekend starters get a few innings in (maybe against a non conference intrastate rival). He is defintely a workhorse.
