I'm looking forward to this Red Sox series against the NY Chokers in much the same way I look forward to the gator getting the water buffalo. They are down all 5 starting pitchers, and Schilling, Matsuzaka, Beckett, and Wakefield are all throwing very well. Oh well, April does not a season make. May the health of Pavano haunt them for the next 25 years.

Hey, 4/5ths of the Sox Opening Day rotation missed significant time last season. Shit happens. It really doesn't matter who's in uniform for any given three-game series, it's still Sox-Yankees and you can throw the record out the window and play baseball. That being said, this lines up better for the Sox than the Yankees. I just hope they aren't overlooking the Blue Jays, and that they aren't too wiped out from playing four games in four days before rolling into the Bronx*.

See, I can make preemptive excuses, too.

*Not in the Bronx, I'm an idiot.

If it hadn't been for rainouts vs. Seattle and The Southern California Los Angeles Orange County of Anaheim and Newport Beach Angels, they'd have played 10 games in 10 days. By the end of the second Yankees series this month, they'll have played 14 games in 14 days. Yikes.

I know... half the entire Yankees team missed a lot of last year. That's why you've got 25 players on the roster. I was just joking, actually- maybe one of these days Cashman/Steiny won't keep signing 35 yr old pitchers and expect them to be healthy all year.

As it stands right now, our pitching order for this weekend is:

    Friday: Schilling
    Saturday: Beckett
    Sunday: Dice K

    Should be fun to watch.

Nice. Dice-K vs that lineup... great TV. I'd love to have Hershiser on the broadcast, but that would be asking too much I'm sure.

I dont have youtube here at work, but you Sox fans NEED to check out the scene from the pizza thrower at yesterdays game. Absolutley hilarious. There is an article in the Herald (online) as well, but I cant get it here at work (no idea how i still get TGR). Google the article (Id imagine its pizza, herald, red sox) and the incident should be on youtube. If you havent seen it, its worth the time. Try to get the analysis from Remy as well.

I don't really understand the pizza thrower's thinking here- he's wearing a Pats jacket, so he's presumably a Sox fan. If the throwee does anything, he interferes with Garret Anderson and saves the Sox an out- behavior to be commended. There must be some backstory here.

Try and find the Herald article.
Turns out the guy that threw the pizza and the 2 fans that were near the foul ball were jawing at each other all game- the guy hit his target, he wasnt throwing it at Anderson.

That's what I figured. And now I don't have to embarrass myself by reading the Herald.

Sounds like the pizza thrower had a whole pie, and the throwee was heckling him to give him a slice for a while. I guess he got his slice.

Argggh, it's not good for a pitcher when your ERA is under 3 and you're 1-2.

The wheels really came off after that no-call on Wells. It was pretty shocking, and DM was lucky to get out of that inning with only two runs scored.

    Here comes the pizza!

I hope no one is disappointed by a guy whose k'd 24 in his first three starts, and walked just 5 batsman (and 60% of those were in the 4th yesterday, when he was pretty clearly pissed about the noncalls on Wells). If his performance the rest of the year approximates these rates, he'll get a bunch of wins. Its only a matter of time before the run support smooths itself out. But seriously, fuck Gustavo Chacin.
