So, this past weekend, the south facing lines up LCC looked good enough to want to do a dawn patrol. Long Duck Dong and JoshP agreed to ski a line on the South Face of Dromedary that I skied last year with APD and Tri-U. Well, with the lack of snow this year, I would suggest avoiding what we tried to do.This line usually offers over 4,500 of continuous fall line skiing, with a fun and steep upper headwall.
We started at o'dark thirty in nice firm snow. We thought we would score. Then we came to a junction. To the left, in the dark, it looked like the couly had melted out, and left a rock wall we didn't want to climb in the dark. So we followed the snow/couloir to the right. Needless to say, after about 2,500ft of lclimbing, the couloir peetered out on the ridge. And now we were faced with 2,500 feet of the worst friggin snow imaginable. What are you going to do? Cry to mommy? Or just bone up and chalk it up as an experience and a bit of exercise.
The following is a short vid of the lower couloir.
