So I don't know any trails listed here .....all these names are really confusing, where should I go this weekend for my first ride of the season? I'll buy a bike book-guide tonight, hopefully I can look up any trails you recommend and get directions from it. Any book recommendations?

You could buy a book, or you could look up trails here:

    http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/

I've used this site to find most of the trails I ride, and the rest were shown to me by maggots.

Dude, don't buy a book. Just go here:

    http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/

and you'll get all the beta you need that is actually up to date and there are probably more trails there than you'll find in any book.

    Edit:

    D'oh, too slow.

Speaking of trail conditions, Bobsled was off the hook last night. Couple very short wet spots, lots and lots of super buffy fun. One of the drops is bigger than it used to be, and a cool rock/log jump sprouted up towards the bottom. Go get it.

The shoreline in general is getting better too.

i cant beleive it but i am headed to MOAB this weekend. I am usually still stoked on skiing this time of year but well, ya know.

i too have been getting out on shoreline and it is pretty nice, minus the ruts that some d bags must have put in during our brief "wet" spell

Yeah, it surprises me how many people will not even give a second thought to riding a muddy trail (ruts, erosion, etc.). I think some people actually think it is core to ride mud:
Bro Brah 1-Dude, I slayed the gnar mud on the shoreline last night, it was wicked cool.
Bro Brah 2-Dude, you are so cool, let's go beat someone up man.

Oh well, it'll buff out fast. It is just nice to be up there in the evening. Perfect temps, awesome sunset.

mill creek pipeline was a little wet up by the top and some spots needed to be hiked. A little more buffing and it should be sweet. I rode it thursday temps and weather are perfect.

Anyone ridden Glenwild recently? I think I'll check out Mill Creek Pipeline again sometime this week and report back.

I'm also curious if anyone has checked out Round Valley in PC. My guess is it will need a bit more time.

Round Valley was still muddy as of Friday. Hoping to ride Glenwild later this week if it dries out. But I wouldn't mind another storm like last week either for some pow.

Whole front side of Glenwild is 100% dry and riding great. 24/7 out to the DH trails is also perfect, and Dropout was super money. I would imagine Team Cutthroat and Ant Farm are also good. Fink again back up was fine with one 10 foot section of mud in one of the north facing dips.

I also hear that all of Round Valley is dry and ready. Lost Prospector is gonna be next, but will take another week at least I bet.

Altachic and I rode the Quarry trail this morning. It's looking pretty good- there were a couple of small snow spots that could be avoided, and one large one that we walked. Most the trail was really dry though, and above the pipe it was perfect. Fun ride.

Dry Creek-Bobsled is great too. Rode that the past few days. Hard and fast.
Not on here much anymore. Drop me an email if you want to contact me. Have a wonderful winter!

LDD, good to hear Bob's Basin is good to go. Gonna bring my bike up Monday for a lunch ride for sure. I'm stoked to check out the new(est) trail up there, I assume that's "Ant Farm"?

I just heard most of this from PC buddies, I wasn't really able to ride tonight. Got halfway through an evening Prospector, had bike problems, and walked home. And save some zip for Wednesday's race big guy!

It's not like I have any zip to start with. I'm just hoping there's a special hung-over clydesdale division.

And Bobsled is still good. Just FYI.

Muller park trail is good to rudy's flat. A few short wet spots on north aspects and a few logs all ridable except one near the top.

This morning, I did the entire Lost Prospector Loop...backwards. (The switchbacks were on the climb.) It was in great condition. No wet spots, and only a very few damp spots. I would say that it is 99.5% dry.

It was nice riding with the Mrs. She really dug the blue, purple, pink, yellow and white mountain flowers on the side of the trail.

Rode Spin Cycle tonight with Maniloff, trail's good to go. 95% dry and only five or six downed trees the whole way. It was my first time, pretty fun, doesn't really compare to Bobsled for speed though.

That, and a thousand-pound rock in the middle of the trail 3/4 of the way down the bobsleddy part.

Sorry bushwacker, there are no trails in Utah like the ones in western Pa., thank God. The closest I can think of is John's trail on PCMR (tight and twisty through the aspens) and the Moose trail off Parley's summit.
