Solomon 997 Driver - mounting flat

Any issues with mounting a pair of Salomon 997 Driver Equipe flat (gray/red/yellow ones, not sure of exact vintage)? Other than needing shorter screws, any potential issues? These would be going on Spats. Also have a pair of 900s on a Poweraxe plate that I could take off another pair of skis if need be.

    Thanks.

What do you mean flat? No risers? Shorter screws and you are set. 900s would be the same way.

If you are talking about taking the 997s off suspension plates, there are differing opinions on this. It will give you a forward ramp angle. Some people say the release system will be compromised but I think you'll be fine. You can also take the little toe plates off other Sollies and use those if the ramp angle is something you are worried about.

Yeah, I meant taking them off the suspension plates, sorry.

Would the 900s w/Poweraxe plate have the same potential problems with the release system?

No. You usually don't even need shorter screws but check on the ski sidewall to make sure.

Get the driver toe shim from another set of salomons (ski swap or shop parts bin). Salomons have enough ramp already, and the metal of the binding can damage structural top sheets (on say an atomic or salomon) without that thin piece of plastic.
