I have a used Pieps 457 Opti-Finder Avalanche Beacon. This beacon is in great shape and works perfectly. It also comes with a neoprene life-link chest holder. I have tested it many times in the field this season with no problems. I now have two beacons and only need one! It also has brand new batteries.

I've been thinking about buying an avy beacon, but will someone enlighten me to why I would buy a used unit for 150+shipping when new 457's sell for $190 new?

It just doesn't sound like a maggot price point. Maybe it's jong bait, but I'm not biting.

And most people are going to replace any batteries that come in their transceiver anyway, so advertising it with batteries is kinda pointless IMO.
