    Orotvox X1

So I searched for X1 reviews and everything I found was about two years old. Has anyone used the X1 since they added the third antenna? They Backcountry Mag review said it was improved. I am trying to replace my F1 and I like that the X1 has the same look and feel.

Maybe Avalanche beacons Ortovox S1 and D3 will adress some of that. Look around in the slide forum - esp last fall-ish, there seemed to lots of talk back then.

We oughta meet and turn one of these days - looks like we're both here.

I took an avi course last weekend and I remember the guide saying that the only beacon he would never recomend to anyone would be the X1.

Particularly if you're replacing an F1. The X1 has the analog long range you're used to, then the directional ease & precision of digital in the short range search. The two antenna version has some drift at short range, but if you actually practice with youre beacon it's a non-issue.

As has been said many times before....... The best beacon is the one that you know and practice with.

I heard all of the shitty reviews from a year or two ago, sounds like maybe things have gotten better. I skied with a digital beacon a month ago after 15 years using analog and it pretty much convinced me that with enough practice a digital beacon is superior. thanks for the beta....

    FZ, sent you a PM...
