Bellingham mags: what to do/where to eat/where to stay?

We'll be passing through here on our roadtrip and it's always sounded like a pretty cool town to me. It also happens to be someplace where I don't know anybody. What are fun things to do in the area (other than ski Baker of course) and are there any cheap (and I mean CHEAP) places to stay? Like hostels, etc.? After several weeks on the road my budget is stretching pretty thin. I also love to eat some I'm down for some suggestions on that as well.

    cheers!

I've heard Gunder's couch is the cheapest place in town, however if you can afford a sixer of GOOD beer, then I could offer a futon, depending on the day you might roll through...

Grant's place is great. Just don't try to use the outlet in the living room to use the shop vac to blow up an inflatable matress. Use the outlet in the kitchen, by the broken window, which is the best place to get in if grant's not home.

I really like the burrito place downtown. I don't know the name, but the burrito's are cheap, there's a good variety, the salsa bar is good, and they have a tequila bar. Someone will have to chime in with the name.

Casa Que Pasa, but they're closed because the owner lost a lawsuit against the smoking ban, and then the IRS discovered he owed a couple hundred thousand dollars in unpaid sales taxes.

I would think the quality of his burrito's could get him out of that mess? No?

Well then, I also like that dive bar/diner downtown that's open at all hours. It's fun to eat pancakes while getting drunk.

Casa que pasa goes down...wow. Long ago...it fed me and sustained life in my alcohol\herb encased bones.

Kelly Jo raised the prices at least $2 on every single food thing she sells. So, no longer a "cheap" option.

But they are having a Hot Dog - the Movie party on Feb 3rd.

Banditos is now the place for cheap burritos in town. But you gota smugle in the tequila.

    Dromond,

When are you driving threw? My couch is an option but it is dependent on A, me actually being in town, B, there not being a film crew stay on said couch already and C, that my house actually has all four walls back up again.

Bastard landlord decides to build a house on the other half of out lot, and in doing so tears down our porch, and half the fucking wall of the house ARGHHH>
