Here's some hints:
The skier is from Switzerland. I took the picture. This was his last day (last hour I might add) of a long, long ski trip.

That little area sitting in the shadow of Alta?
Looks Lonely to me.
Snowbird? I seem to remember Paedde ending his trip in Utarr.
I'm having a hard time placing the spot in LCC. I'd guess Snowbasin.
Sorry. Been gone 'aworking all day. It never ends.
To answer some of your guesses:
It's not "that little area sitting in the shadow of Alta." If it's at Alta, where would you say it is?
It's not Pig Sty.
If it's Basin, where exactly?
If it's the Bird, where is it?
Could it be some other resort?
Here's another hint or two: The chute and run are completely visible from a major chair. The chute in the background is more than 300 vertical feet, and from Paedde's location there's still more than a thousand vertical feet of skiing to the bottom of the chair.
Here's another shot that might give it away:

I've never been there, but the major chair makes me thinking about marte
From what I remember you guys talkiing about that is Deer Valley
Nope. You'll be shocked to find out where it is. Especially since you had something like 160 days there this year.
The reason I made this thread is because after I took these photos and looked at them I couldn't believe how much they didn't look like the bird. Now that it's narrowed down to the resort, does anyone know the name of this area?
I'll em Paedde and see if he wants to post the info if no one figures it out.
Cliff bands above the bookends?
Well then baldy eye of the Needle chute is on the left. The weird peraspective is brought on by the relative flatness of fields of glory above.
I know...... but I don't say anything. It was gooooood but earn your turns.
GREAT SCOTT!!! Where is that place???
don't know the name of the chute, but, top of strawberry lift, snow basin, Ooootahhh???
I've skied it with flyk in years gone by...
its at snowbird. I believe it baldy and I believe its left of eye of the needle. Am I right I am going to go up there and take a picture someday now lol.
Endless great idea! We should try that with some more pics.
Sure looks a lot like the line posted by leroy jenkins in this Trip Report

Lets see for comparison:

i'm a little stumped. how about a couple hints of your choice.
what time of day is this? the shadow suggests either early/late day. the fresh snow suggest AM, which would then make it more likely in mineral.
the dark rock is more prominent in mineral and peruvian than gad. how far from the lift is the chute visible? if i knew all these i still probably couldn't guess it. maybe i should ski at the bird more.
Believe it or not, every single one of you Birdtards (and Utards who have skied the Bird) have passed by the exact spot from where I took these two pics countless times.
I hate to just come out and say where it is because you'll slap yourself in the head when you find out. It really is a duh once you know.
On busy days it is in full, continuous, view of probably 500 people riding the quad. I will say, for Josh's sake, that it is not the Needle, although that was a good guess. But, it's not even close to the Needle. In fact, it is NOT a west-north-western-ish facing like Eye of the Needle.
Oh, and the time of day was in the early afternoon.
This is sad both a instructor and a patroler cant figure where on there home mountain this is.
my next guess anderson's Hill
well anderson's hill above the traverse hence the fresh track, with Tower 3 chutes in the background.
P-gulch, Gad Valley, OR Mineral Basin?
i'm going to have take a long shot and guess toad hill chute. it was the first place that came to mind but without seeing a little more of the area i can't be sure.
that angle looks so weird. the chute itself is about 35 degrees in an average year and looks like 55* from hidden peak. it is fun one when it is open. i think i have a few pics from the july 4th season, 04-05. i'll post them if i can find them.
here they are:
