I won't won't be there.
IN
Moving up there May 9th. Need to be back in Boulder by August 27th.
So, after reading the 'projects' thread, is anyone up for an absurd tour of the Big Holes, say, 40+ miles, upwards of 7 hours? (trust me, that is QUICK for forty big Hole miles!)
Or should we stick to multiple 3-5 hour jaunts, or shuttle, or what?
All of it?
I would be interested in a 7 hour sufferfest, but I like to hurt myself.
Sounds like fun, if it was mid-August I could probably pull it but I plan to be hiking first week of August.
Sufferfest is a fun word.
Sufferfest
and a ride around the Pinnacles too one day
If I'm successful in snagging this job in Jackson, I'm in.
(regarding the pinnacle suggestion) We have just as much great riding, if not more, right here in the Big Holes/western slope...Probably focus on local, takes less time to get 'home' to the hot tub, BBQ, and beer!
I like the part about debauchery, hoppyness and riding, and I really enjoy trail building, but... it's a long way to drive to build trail I'd only rarely get to see.
Selfish git.
It's NOT a long way to hang out with friends that you rarely see, fucker.
(trail building will only be the most minor part, if any part, of the equation)
In other news, Bart officially hates me lately. Oh, well.
I'm down for a sufferfest, but I'll need to rent a bag from AKPM to carry all the food I'd be dreaming about
ohh. I want in.
Much to be ridden up there.
I'm down for whatever. Err, up for whatever. Whatever. I should be able to make it.
Possible formation of a bouldenver road trip crew? Sounds like fun.
16 hour drive from Vancouver to Jackson...
It's been over a year since I've done a long ass road trip...hmmmmm
Can I touch Harlan?
I'd consider dropping down to meet and ride with some of the pedal turning mags. Put me in the maybe, possible, and probable columns.
Can't we discuss the date, first? I'd be game for the second weekend but not the first. Come oooooooon, man!
I'm there. I'd be up for a sufferfest ride provided there's a riding-oriented point to the sufferfest... i.e. long carvy or techie descents, the kind that make you scream out loud because it's so fun.
Also, something to think about regarding a sufferfest ride:
For almost every normal, sane rider I know, a long 7-8 hour day requires a few days off the bike afterward.
So for a multi-day riding summit, don't make the sufferfest on any day but the absolute last for the majority of people attending. On the 2 days after a suffer-fest, with the full cardio-vascular-musculo-skeletal beatdown it's a lot easier to drive than it is to try to do another 4 hour ride.
rideit, are dogs welcome?
Dogs are not only welcome, but encouraged (not on the big rides or DH shuttles, tho')
Edit: I have a pretty large, perfectly fenced yard for the pooches. We just have to share 'fling' duty.
Can accomodate up to ten pooches, I reckon'.
Bring your prozac, and no politics!
And yes, the 'Big Ride' will be on the last day, of course.
What does it take to get a Sticky on this thread?
sounds hawt. I will do my best to make it
Yarg. I think I have sales meeting that weekend. Lame.
I wanna ride the pass trails sooo badly.
Cool, Schmoe, I'll sick you on Uncle Crud.
You two can sleep in the garage.
I'm in. Up for sufferfest fo'sho'. I'll bring a bunch of Utah beer...oh wait, nevermind.
OK, I have a few Ideas for the sufferfest.
Do we want five fun hours, or seven where tensions might run high?
Do we want multiple laps on the Pass, (three different downhills, three similar uphills)
I vote for five fun hours, doing:
Warmup-Mahogony Creek-Relay Ridge-North Fork Canyon Creek-South Fork Canyon Creek-Elk Flats-South Fork Horshoe..(bailout point here for those who require it) then following up with the Horseshoe loops (we hopefully will have ridden them once earlier, so people know what to expect), with ChooChoo (new), Bovine, southbound, Sod-Buster, Cody's loop, probation, burgh, Sharks-belly, and Channel Lock finish.
This should be honestly 5-6 hours, with good godly gobs of climbing and descending pure singletrack. You will finish both hating and adoring the big holes, and this ride will haunt you. It would be the finest of what we have in terms of EPIC cc.
One or two people may cry.
One or two may sell all of their posessions to move here.
It could be anyone, really.
Sound good?
If I didn't have a wedding that weekend I would cry harder than Rontele.
Weekend of the 11th is the bluegrass festival, don't forget that little bonus! Sam Bush, David Grisman, Seldom Scene, Kane's River, etc etc. http://www.grandtarghee.com/summer/m...grass-fest.php
Any ECers heading out?
Im still unsure of my current ability level (as several mentioned in the previous thread) seeing as though this damn job keeps me in front of the idiot box all day and night.
Im a 40%.
