I dunno, I grew up spending half the year at a little ski lake in the Midwest that pumped out a bunch of regional and national champs over the years. The place really embodied the water ski vibe and I guess you could say it’s a weird culture, but so are most cultures that are built around recreational activities. No stranger or that much different than snow skiers IMO, much like the race scene in the mountains.Quote:

There was a day in 2009 when I skied powder in the morning at Alpental and then flew to Hawaii and swam in the ocean (daytime). Pretty amazing day other than the 5hr flight.

Maybe Southern France? There's also some decent skiing in the Appenines in Italy, but not sure if the season is long enough to typically coincide with good beach weather. Andorra is fairly close to the Mediterranean, too.Quote:

If you're talking about ski resorts that are in the actual tropics, then no. Pretty sure that doesn't exist. I don't know of any ski lifts in the tropics at all, much less ones that are within a short drive of the beach.Quote:

It's not, but for the purposes of this discussion I'm guessing the requirements are a sandy beach and warmish water. Let's say above 22 degrees C or 72 F. Even that's a bit chilly, but I doubt anything would qualify if water warmer than that is needed.Quote:

Isola 2000 in the Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur is 1.5 hours drive from Nice.
A number of them just over the IT border like Cuneo as well.
There's a slew of little ski areas around there. March is supposed to be the month for ski then beach.
