Oof. $300k for a fully offgrid, zero plumbing cabin right next to other people, that appears to need a lot of ongoing maintenance/upkeep, where you still have to drive to a ski area that consistently gets parked out by 8am? Youre basically going car camping each time... and paying $300k for the camping spot. Makes crystals $10k/year RV spots look downright affordable.Quote:

To each their own as they say. But this isnt just offgrid, its entirely unplumbed (and would be a PITA+ $$ to get that permitted/built), and it has none of what i consider to be the benefits of an off-grid home (100ft from a busy highway, neighbors 100ft away, still dealing with a traffic nightmare to go recreate 2+ days per week). You could buy a baller RV setup and have $200k left over to travel with instead of that place if all you're looking for is 4 walls and a reliable place to overnight.Quote:

Some friends and I made it up to the top of pumice ridge on the CD route yesterday. Crusty snow overall, but it still skied ok. I snapped a pic of a group of 4 over on the Easton, but they were the only other humans we saw all day.

Yeesh, doing a tour with graybird touring at crystal end of feb, had the idea it'd be nice to wake up at the mountain/within an hour of the place to make the morning a little less stressful but there is absolutely nothing available close by that doesn't require multi day stay or cost $$$$. I'm surprised no one has opened up a hostel in enumclaw/greenwater or something, seems like a easy win.
I’ve had much better cold weather skiing in late January, February and early March than December here. This year has been notable in the Wenatchee Mountains as we haven’t had significant wet and warm storms and well above average snowfall. We’re set for base here, better than at any time last season.

More parking madness at Stevens today. Felt like racers and their families took up lots of capacity as lift lines were pretty mild.
Skied lots of nice fresh, deep, and not too heavy pow on the upper mountain.
Feels like everyone comes to Stevens to stick to the groomers, which is just fine by me and my crowd.
Also, the race course exit at the bottom of Big Chief was a disaster of forcing normal skiers right into the impromptu race viewer gallery. You would think that they would know how to make all the work since they practically have a race there every weekend.
Same vibe at Baker today - sleeper mini pow day - excellent conditions, White Salmon was full when we got there at 9:20ish, up top was busy as well, then all the fun stuff on the mountain was empty. It was such a perfect day.Quote:

Really nice day up on Baker today - windy at times, but the snow was ripper wind buff and pow everywhere. You can almost drive to the trailhead. And we skied into a Brocken spectre coming down Grouse Creek which was quite spectacular:

Assuming you're good with parting them out, interested in North Cascades Highway and Backcountry Skiing Snoqualmie Pass. Happy to grab anywhere from Seattle up to the pass.

I've got some Heritage Labs skis showing up this week and I don't have the tools/space/skills to mount them myself, but I don't particularly trust evo to handle a non standard mount (no stamp on the topsheet/sidewall); any recs for places I could trust to take care of them? Or any kind souls in North Seattle I could bring a 6 pack and get some help?

You can mark it with a sharpie and it should stay throughout a shop experience and then wipe the sharpie off later with an alcohol wipe.
Ran up to crustal for some sun and warmth, and as a bonus found some chalky snow.
