It's not very hard to use a simple IP logger, in conjuction with the posted=1 and anchor variables in the URL that come after posting to link IP to poster. In fact you can do it really easily in PHP. You can even be sly and serve the script up as, say, the same image as the TGR yellow smiley face man :)

If anyone should be miffed about this whole situation it is the Mag that did the study of this place for his/her(couldn't find who it was despite numerous search query's) dissertation. That's like writing a book about 90210 just before the Dylan/Kelly/Brandon switch happened.

regardless, bravo to the people that have turned this most generous of gestures into something Geraldo would lead with in his next show.

Yes. I actually sent him a pm about this subject. It's a funny thing to be offered a ton of money from strangers. All I can say is that this gives me a glimmer of hope for our fucked up society.

I agree with what plake said, a lot of this is none of anyones business and talking about the $$$ is kinda wierd as well, a gift is a gift is good will, taking it back or putting conditions on it is just flat out LAME.

I do think, however, that YOU, SHMOESMITH,(and whoever else might be involved) should be honest with yourself and someone else(IE: a THERAPIST, PSYCHOLOGIST or PSYCHIATRIST) who can be objective about everything that did happen, regarding ur relationship with DW and her reasons, either real or percieved for taking her life. Use a 1000$ of the dough u just got and go see a therapist, and be honest. Your Wife took her own life. Its a serious event in someones life, and if you are honest with yourself, you will be able to grow and be happy.

What did happen is NONE OF MY OR ANYONE ON THIS INTERNET BOARD'S BUSINESS!

Losing someone u love is tough.. but always remember it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all and I wish you nothing but health and happiness, enjoy the $, I hope your life is easier for a few months because of it. Remember, this too shall pass.

I kinda always held this place with suspended disbelief....I mean half the people I've met from here have been dicks to me, despite what the welcome wagon says. A bunch of others have been dicks to me only online, which is also awesome. I ain't perfect myself, but y'all should just stick to skiing and joking around...it's a SKI forum.....no offense to the nice peeps I've met. This place is no different that any other retarded forum around, although I know you guys are in fucking love with it. That's my opinion after this mess....and there's the disclaimer. Even the jokes have fallen off lately with all the rookies....at least the TRs will keep me here. And the bike forum. And the padded room. Fuck, I'm stuck.

Concerned Maggots revealed no big secret - except the hypocrisy behind the mask some people are wearing here in the guise of the "maggot community". Posting on a message board does not make you instant friends forever and trying to pretend it's that way with everyone you meet encourages people to be fake. Most likely, Concerned is a person(s) who knows Schmoe and could take a 20 minute drive to ask the hard questions face to face - and get all the answers. What's missing is the balls to do so, or write this up under their own names.

Of course there's more than meets the eye here. Although so many have hopped up on the high horse, inside their brain everyone who knows this story has speculated as to why it happened.

Maybe they were looking for the clue, the something they could have done to avert disaster. Maybe they saw themselves in what happened and did some personal soul searching. Maybe it was analytical, so they looked at the "facts" and in their mind 1+1 <> 2. Maybe they sat in judgment and made themselves feel better about their own lives, or maybe they were looking to place blame.

If you're a skeptic and a cynic, don't be so quick to put up your cash...

Too many people here love to see "paypal sent" next to their username. It won't assuage the guilt of not being a friend to them before and your coin doesn't mean shit if it comes with conditions or worse yet a spiteful tax.
