That is the Williams statement ahead of Robert Kubica driving in the post-Abu Dhabi test for the team. Assuming the deal is eventually done, Kubica’s comeback will represent by far the longest anyone has attempted a serious F1 career comeback (although Jan Lammers did make a two-race return to F1 in 1992, having last raced in the category in 1982). Niki Lauda was absent for just two years before making the comeback in 1982 that eventually led to a third world title in ’84. But combined with the extent of Kubica’s injury, nothing of this scale of comeback has been attempted before. If he succeeds, it will surely go down as one of the most remarkable sporting comebacks of all time. Both Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso have gone on record as believing Kubica to be a special talent, beyond the norm. His (first) F1 career ran from mid-2006 to the end of 2010. Back in 2012, Toto Wolff said, “When I look at what Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean did in the Lotus this year, I am convinced had Robert not had his accident, he’d have been world champion in that car.”
Williams hopes both his talent behind the wheel and the intense level of focus he brings will give them a competitive boost. It is likely, however, that he will miss selected Friday P1 sessions as the team hopes to run a junior driver for several of these. Formula 2 driver Nicholas Latifi has been mentioned in connection with this.

Completed my first year of watching racing and while the F1 cars are more impressive than indycars most of the indycar races were more entertaining. The competition was much better in indycar as there seemed to be more parity between the cars, but dam are the F1 cars quick especially in the corners. It will be interesting to see how ABC/ESPN does coverage with F1.
funny. when I started the thread, coverage was on SPEED. things change, wish Vettel had won, Hammy is kind of a tool , but much respect, I guess. Good on Bottas for holding him offQuote:

Had the feedback steering wheel and brake,gas,clutch,shifter setup.

Yea, I`m not happy about it. Me being older I like the familiarity of things including broadcasters. Jeff Gordon was seen at some of the races this year. Would not be surprised if ABC throws a Nascar guy in the mix for demographics. Seems like NBC was trying to tie in Nascar with this series a few times. I hope Alonzo gets the the horsepower he needs next season with the new engine builder.

Between the new logo , boring tilkedromes, the halo , no passing , cars that sound like Vaccum cleaners and vast competitive disparity, constrained tech development (compared to the halcyon years of the 90s- mid 2000s) I’m shocked people still enjoy F1
As a lifelong student of Motorsport (runs in family , grandad used to be one of the execs of Hulman and co who own Indianapolis motor speedway) I still watch, but indycar is undoubtedly the best and most pure form of racing on the planet , followed by Aussie V8 supercars
Indycar is pure spec racing similar to Nascar. A pass at Indy isn't worth a dime anymore. No passing on the road courses in Indycar either.Quote:

Engine reg changes are being negotiated to address the over complexity and to attract more manufacturers. And leveling the financial playing field from front to back of grid. They're also dragging the sport into 21st century regarding media and web coverage.
It was a good season even though Mercedes and Hamilton's dominance continues, it was reduced. Ferrari came back strong from season opener and Red Bull improved throughout the year.
Also the current field of drivers is probably as good as it's ever been.
The only reason to watch the Indy 500 was to see Alonso make all the regular have beens and never will bes look very average.
