I don’t know, it’s a fine line. Again, there’s plenty of stuff you can die on at any given time. Patrol usually has a good handle on it.

One of my favorite signs (the bottom right one). First saw it in 1992 and it's at the top of Nordkette, an awesome little hill above Innsbruck. The local I was skiing with suggested they put that up after a Japanese tourist fell at the top in a slippery suit and did not have a positive outcome.
When I was there you really did want to ski it after lunch when things had softened up, though I did manage a lap while it was spicey.

lotta verbotens at that place.
Eh. My bad. Percent versus degrees.
Carry on.
PS. Why is 45 degrees 100 percent?
Same mistake the WP made the other day when they described the Olympic DH course's steepest section as 70 degrees. Maybe Core Shot writes for the Post?
Because 45 degrees is exactly one foot out for every foot down. So it's equal aka 100%

Eh
Call me an ignorant slut. I can take it.
But I’m surprised that a ski area would use percent instead of degrees.
So 50% slopes rarely avalanche
Got it
What evs
For a warning sign that’s Fucked up.
Seventy “percent” slope is child’s play. Even if it’s all ice.
Re: People struggling inbounds on A/T gear, locked out toes, no packs, etc. As in it doesn't look like they are going on a tour.
I'm tempted to start asking these types if they are headed out for a tour.
PS. What percent is a 50 degree ski slope?
Oh. It’s 120 percent.
I slayed that 120 gnar
^seems like a gaper quote :fmicon:
"Besides Vail, I ski a week at some other North American resort every year. The Vail experience is still far and away the best there is. Not perfect, but what is? Quit complaining and start appreciating the best there is."

Had my most entertaining lift ride of the season today. Guy was talking to us and he was like "your gloves tell me you are hardcore (kincos of course). Like they say fuck you, I don't care." To be fair, he wasn't wrong.
Got paired up w a guy in head to toe homemade fleece cow print outfit, including cow print jester hat. All 20 years old w skis and poles painted to match. Conversation with the guy went to about how one would expect, story of how his kids were embarrassed, 20 yrs ago, but some friends told them his dad was cool… totally believable story there too.
