Was it Cisco? I thought it was someone else... regardless, whoever it was had bought a smaller company that had a product called the iPhone. Apparently Apple and this company were in talks for two years (?) about the name, but Apple went ahead and said screw it.
Who cares how or when they came up with it?
All that matters is they own the name.

If it is scheduled for a June 2007 launch in US, it will probably be for Christmas in Yurp.
They will launch very fast in Yurp as the network is 100% GSM.

The Ipod was a great technological invention, but it doesn't mean that every single one of Apple's new products will be nearly as good, hope people realize at some point...
Can anyone clarify if this will have ActiveSync with Exchange/Outlook? I hear it runs full OSX, so shouldn't there be custom software to do it? Yahoo is useless, they need Outlook support if they want corporate ppl to buy.
