I’m following along closely as my buddy’s Outback approaches the 200k mark. I think it’s a 2013 or so and he’s done all the wrenching on it. Either he’s preventatively done all of the above options 1-7 or it’s just a grenade waiting to go.
He’s getting a Taco so if it does go he’ll be able to tow it away.
All that been said, I like driving my Impreza. I like the form factor. I like the handling. I like the features. I don't mind the CVT so far. I'm sure it's gonna wear out the engine, however, that's somebody else's problem because I plan to be rid of it by then.
We drive them into the ground about 250k. Brakes wear faster than they should. Spark plugs are a pain in the ass to change, but they seem to be relatively low maintenance, get great gas mileage and the clearance plus low center of gravity is hard to beat in Winter.
