Either way, I think the one big takeaway from Bobby's departure will be a marked downward ripple effect in the clapped-out Subaru secondary market thanks to a lack of free Carfaxes to determine how many wrecks the previous 4 owners had it in.
My complaint this month regarding Subaru is the leaky oil pan. Instead of fixing the manufacturing process, they hope you don't catch it within warranty. They fixed mine last week. Subaru and VW are two vehicles I don't want to drive without a warranty.

The best thing about Subarus is they make me feel better about the reliability of my Audi.
I’m following along closely as my buddy’s Outback approaches the 200k mark. I think it’s a 2013 or so and he’s done all the wrenching on it. Either he’s preventatively done all of the above options 1-7 or it’s just a grenade waiting to go.
He’s getting a Taco so if it does go he’ll be able to tow it away.
All that been said, I like driving my Impreza. I like the form factor. I like the handling. I like the features. I don't mind the CVT so far. I'm sure it's gonna wear out the engine, however, that's somebody else's problem because I plan to be rid of it by then.
We drive them into the ground about 250k. Brakes wear faster than they should. Spark plugs are a pain in the ass to change, but they seem to be relatively low maintenance, get great gas mileage and the clearance plus low center of gravity is hard to beat in Winter.
We bought a '97 outback new off the lot when we moved to NorCal, 5 speed with a 50/50 split, it was pretty fun to drive. But the air conditioner went out literally 100 miles past warranty and Subaru said tough shit.
The cloth seats soaked up way too much kid juice, had to sell it when it started smelling like a garbage truck in the summer.
No more cloth seats, and no more Subarus after that.
This the Subaru thread now?

The good news is it’s easy to drop the front subframe and engine for easy access.
The bad news is you have to do it too often.
