as soon as they go less than 20 yrs between SB wins, sure.
funny how all the calls for Coughlin's head on a platter and Eli's ass on a bench went away too.
bet you both those and the pats as a dynasty will be back by next year's playoffs.
Lets see here.....
Tuffy hasn't exactly had Eli's 'cock in his mouth' in this thread.
This was his prominent post, and I'm happy to quote it, as it rules!
So it appears that you are a bitter pats fan who had nothing to say but tired gay jokes?? niiiiiice.
If you really truly feel that way, you're just being ignorant. You'd be hard pressed to find ANY intelligent person who would say that Eli's status as the franchise QB of the Giants could be in question, for any reason other than injury. I'll grant you the point about the Pats though. If they roll through the regular season again and get to the SB, the dynasty talk would crop up again.
I really enjoyed watching Jim Nance practically make out with Kraft Saturday on air at the FBR. Kraft- " we'll keep it close for the first half for the ratings "
right now? into next season? sure.
through 10 games, hell 15 games this year? come on. you cant tell me you didnt get scared everytime he dropped back to throw. every time the pass rush got anywhere near him and he ran away rather than step up in the pocket. remember that?
were you really excited when coughlin got his extension? really?
remember this eli?

or how about this one?

my little brother for some reason is a giants fan. he claims the real eli is duct taped hand and foot in a broom closet in the meadowlands and an animatronic replacement has been playing since week 15.
now i got to admit, i hate the manning brothers. but did eli really deserve mvp? for one good drive? for one athletic play where he kept his wits around him and didnt freak out like a little girl? the giants offense scored no more points than they averaged all season, they put up no more points than the pats defense gave up all season.
but the defense? holy crap, that was one of the most dominant performances by a defensive line in years. the defense held the pats to their lowest point total all season to something like half their season average. so they cant give it to the whole line, give it to strahan because he's the old man, give it to tuck for two sacks, six tackles and a forced fumble.
but eli? wtf? the giants defense won that game, the offense just didnt lose it.
fuck the pats......i am glad they lost.....not glad that ny won, just glad to see 18-1
Fez, you seem to miss an important point; offense isn't just about scoring points. It's about controlling the game. The Giants' first drive of the game was the LONGEST SINGLE DRIVE IN SUPERBOWL HISTORY (almost 10 minutes). A big part of the game plan was to obviously keep Brady on the bench, and Eli won the time of possession battle. Sure, the offense stuttered at points, but that's a credit to the resiliency of the Pats defense. Too bad for them that they couldn't stop Eli's offense when it really mattered though. Eli's performance was WELL deserving of the MVP. Justin Tuck kinda got robbed, but when you're the QB and you control the ball all game and win it in the end, you're guaranteed to get it.
Funny how some pats fans are claiming that the Pats are still one of the best teams in football history. This years Pats aren't even in the top 40. Every single team to win the superbowl is a greater team than this years Pats team. There is only one game that matters and if you can't win that one it doesn't make a damn bit of difference what you did in the regular season.
It occurs to me how absurd this statement is, based on the fact that the offense drove the whole field to score a touchdown in the final minute to win the game. Did you say that because you've been blinded by how spectacular the Pats offense has been and are shocked that they were held to 14 points? Well, Brady got punched in the mouth all night and he couldn't do his thing (see the shots of his eyes watering up after the relentless hits?), while Eli was able to execute and finish when needed. Of course the defense was huge in win, and as I said before, Justin Tuck could have easily gotten the MVP, but to say the offense "didn't lose it" is bullshit and I won't stand for it.
i didnt mean the offense didnt lose it. i meant eli didnt lose it.
listen, the giants are my little brother's team, they were (were, they just joined the bears as my most hated nfl team) the team i cheered for in the nfc.
you can't tell me you werent worried every one of the last 5 games which eli was going to show up. he has had flashes of brilliance over the last two years, but also some flashes of being yet another first round bust.
the defense won the game, plain and simple. if there was ever a superbowl where a defensive player should have had the mvp, it was this one.
meh.
I don't really believe this, in any sport.
Just because you won the Championship doesn't necessarily mean you were the best team. It means you won the championship. Georgetown was better than Villanova. The Bruins were better than the Canadiens in the early 70's, the Russians were DEFINITELY better than the americans in the '80 Olympics, etc., etc.
Take your championship and be happy with it but the better team did not win and you know it's true.
Yes, I can. I had confidence that Eli would be solid every game. What I was worried about was the secondary.
I see your first point and agree with it. Sometimes the "better team" does not play to their potential in the championship. I see how one could argue that this was the case with the Patriots.
However, I would make the case that the Giants evolved into a better team than the Patriots over the course of the playoffs. I would say that the Giants looked like a better football team than the Patriots looked over their respective playoff games, and of course in head-to-head competition in the Super Bowl. In the regular season, the Patriots were the better team, obviously. But in the playoffs, the only time that matters, the Giants were clearly the better team. The Patriots could not sustain the level of play that they exhibited over the course of the regular season. Slow and steady wins the race.
Are we still talking about the Superbowl? Honestly, it's ok. It's over now. ;)
Don't hate the thread; thread the hate.
nibhighfootballrules!
Like Skikola said - The Giants became a better team throughout the playoffs. The Pats, probably because they have so many old players, became a much worse team during the playoffs. They dominated the first half of the season but became less and less dominant as the season went on. The last couple months they were not that great of a team at all. They had a tough time with the Jags and if SD wasn't so beat up the Chargers probably would have beat them. Be honest with yourself- you know this is true.
I suppose you'd also like to nominate Belichick for Sportsman of the Year too.
The Superbowl was a perfect example. He received a lot of pressure and look at his throws. They were off the mark, he didn't see open receivers and was sacked several times. Compare that to earlier in the season when he had enough time to make a lunch and take a nap. Put any good quarterback behind that O-line and they'd be able to pick apart the secondary.
You put any quarterback in Brady's position during the Super Bowl and they are going to have an extremely hard time. This wasn't just a lot of pressure, this was the o-line completely collapsing almost every play, blitzers running up the middle unblocked. The New England o-line was simply destroyed and because of that you say Brady isn't that good?
Peyton has a great O-line... Are you going to say he is overrated too? So any quarterback with a great O-line is overrated?
Was Montana overrated because he had Jerry Rice?
There is no logic to your argument.
BTW - with Brady "sucking" how was it that they regained the lead in the 4th? Brady didn't lose this game, Eli won it at the expense of an elderly defense.
This isn't about Peyton or Montana, but both handle pressure better than Brady. I never said Brady wasn't good. He is a good quarterback, but he certainly is not the the best ever as many said all season long. I have never seen an offensive line as good as what Brady had. For most of the season he had little pressure put on him and when he finally does get solid pressure on him his throws suddenly aren't accurate, and he doesn't find open receivers. He folded. You can't be the greatest quarterback ever and fold in that game.
He had two great drives in the whole game. He scored 14 points when they averaged 28+ all season. He didn't have a good game because he couldn't handle the pressure. That said I agree that he didn't lose the game. The Giants won it.
Peyton? Handle pressure better than Brady?? I'm Speechless. Simply Speechless. I'm not calling Brady the best QB ever, but Peyton handles pressure better than him? After reading that I'm done with this conversation as it is evident you are a Brady hater. Its not even worth it.
I guess I can't blame the hate though, as an entire seasons worth of National Media fornication on Brady and the Patriots has left the entire country pissed off. But hey everyone got their schadenfreude and I'm sure it feels good. So enjoy.
No fucking doubt. I'm not a Brady-blower, but Joe Montana wouldn't have held up under the Giant's onslaught. Brady got hit HARD all day long - best offensive line my ass - not that night. He always got up and still gave his team a chance to win. Whenever Payton Manning got hit like that the Colts would lose by 20.
This is crazy. Peyton Manning has the mental toughness of a 12 year old school girl. he rattles easier than most meth addicts.
take a look at super bowl's past and look at other quarterbacks that spend most of the game on their backs. In Elway's first three super bowls the Bronco's lost by a combined three million to 30. steve Grogan's career ended. Rich Gannon was already old, but what happened to him after the Buc's went to town?
the fact that the Pat's were even in the game shows how great a team they are.
The correct answer to this little argument is that a great o-line makes a difference between a great quarterback and an average one. You put Brady behind the Rams oline and he isn't going to be that great of a QB.
Brady is great - but he has had the right supporting cast to make him great.
leave it to fitzy to say it best.
Fuckin' Fitzy knows what's going on.
