Anecdotally speaking, while the Mercedes may have "more shit to break," the Audi will HAVE more stuff that breaks that normally doesn't on other cars. Haha. Don't get me wrong. I'll drive an Audi too but they're WAAAAY more of a pain in the dick to wrench on than the average Mercedes, and only on my Audi have I had so many interior trim pieces break. From the crazy over-engineered glove box hinges (with these little gas pistons for soft open - WTF?) to the visor clips to buttons turning to goo to the panels of the back seats breaking off. It was never ending. BUT on the plus side, thanks to the strong aftermarket on fleaBay and Amazon, all of these items were ridiculously cheap to fix in all honesty.
On the flipside, although it's only my first Mercedes, the plastics (except for the cheap-o window switches) seem to way better quality and working under the hood is night and day easier to deal with. Do a simple belt change on an Audi, then do it on a Mercedes and report back. ;)
That all said, I still do love Audis. Just don't fool yourself that you'll have any less stuff to deal with than on a MB.
