It was a brave post. Would have been easy to lean on your social responsibility to model good behavior but you opted to put your real calculus out there. Thanks for doing that. It seems early for tough decisions, but apparently it's not. Sorry you were put in that position--to say nothing of the responses here. Don't let us morons add insult to injury; the interaction with your friend sounds gut-wrenching enough. Internet's gonna internet.

My understanding is that only persons recieving paychecks (or not recieving anymore) will be getting the cash. And there may be wealth or income limits.
