Got them midway through last season, just threw new clamps on them.
Superdigg: have you skied the renegades with tlt5 yet? Thinking about doing the same with a pair or hojis and tlt5p...
Yes, but only once so far. Didn't think about the boots at all. Conditons were great so I never got pushed around. Take into consideration that I converted from tele last season (being used to flimsy gear) and I have crazy small feet (25,5) giving the boots less material to collapse. Carpettesting against my Krypton Pros with black tongues (C?) the TLTs aren't far behind when it comes to stiffness IMO.
As a side note: Fast forward to 20-2mins in Dang! And take a look at what ski/boot combo Eric uses hitting the park ;)
I'm surprised these haven't sold out on Backcountry yet.

Just picked up the 196 with an MFD and deadbolts (probably 18s). I gots strong legs. Now where to mount...
Live in Vail, 6'2" 190lbs. Going for at least a big cat ski trip this season maybe heli as well. Help a fella out? Pictures to come soon...
I mounted -1 of rec, basically in the middle of frec range. Works great for ne in deep pow and all around
PSA: Just saw a post on the 4FRNT StoreFRNT page that has demo Rens for $300 right now. Any SLC mags should head over if they are looking at a pair. Non-SLC mags I'm sure could call them and work something out.
Mounted at 86cm from the tail. Still seems like there is nothing in front of me.
I think I will ski them for 1/2 the season and decide if they are good or need a mount change or size up to 196
Hey bird it is weird at first with the center mount. Even my 196 look short, but teh long tail and stiff large surface area make for a charging, shifty, blast of a pow ski. Give it a few days, ski a tight chute and some tight trees into a chute and you will never look back.
BAM. Got them. Thank you 4FRNT for the love letter a la Hoji and The White Room crew. I'm probably going to frame that...Attachment 124558
I just can't get behind the new topsheet.
It's not that it's bad or anything but I just can't get over how beautiful the crows are.
anyone ski both Motherships and Renegades? Any comparisons?
i've skied xxls and renegades, stability wise they're right on par though the metal construction of the xxl makes them a bit more damp, they're more of a hold on for dear life and gun it type ski whereas the renegade can be much more nimble when needed, you can let 'em slide out there for days and then change direction on a dime. the main similarity is the absurd amount of stability you get on either of those skis, they differ quite a bit otherwise. hopefully that helps a bit seeing as the xxl and moship were pretty close.
RCamp, this link is mostly a Hoji vs Renegade comparison, but there are few section where I and others compare the Mothership to the Renegade:
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ji-mini-review
In short, the Mothership was the ultimate hard snow ski for me in the 110-125 mm underfoot class as far as holding high edge angles at speed. However, the Renegade and other skis with subtle tip-to-tail reverse camber (e.g. Katana) were so much more agile off piste that I ditched my Motherships after one season.
Just picked up a pair of last years in 196. Stoked to get them mounted up. Was debating between these and the Hoji, but found a great deal on the renegades so I pulled the trigger.
Picked up some of the 2012 196's (best topsheet ever). Going to decide later which to keep 186 or 196 or both!
