while i certainly sympathize with everyone's comments, i'm also sure that blurred's heart is in the right place. we know that there is a possibility of a buyout. a new owner is not likely to run the forum the same way. this forum is the way it is not because of tgr, but because of the participants. tgr merely helped cultivate it with its hands-off policy.

in any case, since it would be a complete and total disaster to have this board suddenly shut off, i think it's prudent to have an "emergency backup" board set up and ready to go - just in case - especially if a sale is pending. i would hope that the powers that be would provide this forum's archives to the backup board, because there's a lot of value here.

I would also love to help with or even lead the technical setup, hosting, costs, etc., but i don't want to be a moderator. that's sprite's job. (:

I have no doubt that maggots can muster up the knowledge, capital and stoke to create a forum, but maintaining it is another thing. No one does anything for free. Maybe, the forum should be spun off from TGR, but are maggots willing to pay the price?

The irony here is that Blurred, who judging by his post's is one of the few posters apparently on the RIGHT on this board, is suggesting a communist takeover. As a long time lurker and jong, I can only say that the irony is giving me a good chuckle.

I hope TGR survives and continues to run the joint because I enjoy the fun (quietly and anonomously).

I'm pretty sure the joint would fall apart being run by a collective. JMHO but then again I'm just a jong who just got a good laugh out this thread.

I own a hosting company and have a spare server sitting on my floor right now. I'm sure I could muster something up if there would be any takers... I don't really want to take any mags away from TGR until we know what's going to happen, but a backup plan might be a good idea. Any ideas for domains (or if you have one you'd be willing to donate...) while we're at it?

I don't see what is wrong with getting things rolling to help protect the forum as it- to make sure that one day we don't all try to go here and not have it exist.

I've spent the past few hours building another forum. Not to take TGR's place, but just in case the board goes down, or TGR changes. The normal TGR antics will be welcome, Blurred and his 200 alius, and Shut The Fuck Up You Fucking Moron, et al.

When the site directs properly I'll post a link. Go there or not I don't care, but at this point I'm footing the bill, so it is free to all and there is a safety net so there is no need to argue any longer.
