I pretty much agree with everything, except the last line. It IS about maggots, but it is ALSO about TGR. The forum is great; no doubt. I like the people I have met, and the vibe of what goes on here. However, I also dig the TGR flicks. For the most part, they are top drawer. While, I can live wothout a TGR sticker, I would miss the quality stuff that TGR puts out (ski/surf).
I have no doubt that maggots can muster up the knowledge, capital and stoke to create a forum, but maintaining it is another thing. No one does anything for free. After the initial love affair with the concept of a forum owned and operated by maggots is over, what will happen? Will we want to find another avenue to pursue? Maybe, the forum should be spun off from TGR, but are maggots willing to pay the price?

while i certainly sympathize with everyone's comments, i'm also sure that blurred's heart is in the right place. we know that there is a possibility of a buyout. a new owner is not likely to run the forum the same way. this forum is the way it is not because of tgr, but because of the participants. tgr merely helped cultivate it with its hands-off policy.

in any case, since it would be a complete and total disaster to have this board suddenly shut off, i think it's prudent to have an "emergency backup" board set up and ready to go - just in case - especially if a sale is pending. i would hope that the powers that be would provide this forum's archives to the backup board, because there's a lot of value here.

I would also love to help with or even lead the technical setup, hosting, costs, etc., but i don't want to be a moderator. that's sprite's job. (:

The irony here is that Blurred, who judging by his post's is one of the few posters apparently on the RIGHT on this board, is suggesting a communist takeover. As a long time lurker and jong, I can only say that the irony is giving me a good chuckle.
