That's more like it!
This Golden God hopes to see a good maggot turnout tonight at the Boulder presentation.
EDIT: Actually I'd kinda like to see that video. Man what a hilarious night!
OK, so who's showing up tomorrow night????
I'm planning to be there!
bump for tonight
who's gonna be there?
should be there with my gf and a non-mag friend with his gf as well.
dumping in the mountains right now.
bump for tonite
this might be an incredibly stupid question, but to anyone thats been, can you bring food\drink inside? I know some churches are pretty picky about that sort of thing. probably will have to pickup dinner enroute.
I dunno about food and soft drinks but they definitely don't want alcohol in the church.
pechelman,
yeah, try to finish your food/drink before coming to the church. It's a nice church that was donated to us, so we'd like to keep it clean & free from potential spillage.
see ya tonite!
FYI... THURSDAY Boulder venue change: ECCR 265. Engineering Center Classroom Wing 2nd floor. (next door to the Benson Building-- we'll be there to help you find it)
As per food, I agree that we don't want to ruin our chances of using the church in the future, but if you MUST bring along dinner, I'm not going to tell you can't eat it. Quietly off to the side.
another bump.
Go kick some ass, Halsted!
So the other day I'm driving around Denver and I start noticing a little two step vibration and it keeps getting louder and louder and louder until finally it resolved itself into words just as I turned a corner and there outside a little church were thousands of people chanting:
HACK
SAW!
HACK
SAW!
Scared the hell outta me.
i'll be attending tonight. can somebody post an address for the engineering building so i can find it.
here is a link to the map on google maps i am looking at, can anyone confirm if this is the place? http://www.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&...l=en&tab=wl&q=
They told me
ECCR 265 Engineering center classroom wing 2ed floor.
7PM (come early so we can start at 7)
Cheers,
Halsted
I'll be there.
damn texan, that link is taking me to google maps home page.
The Engineering Center is at Colorado Blvd and Regent Drive. If you come in via 36 (28th street through Boulder) turn west at Colorado. The first left is Regent Drive and the E Center is right there.

Great class, thanks!
it was a really good class. i was suprised how many people showed up.
The guy sitting next to me said it was in the "Buff Bulletin" - an email newsletter sent out to all the students and staff. Still, nice turnout.
Thanks Hacksaw - great show.
Is there a Powerpoint presentation, video, or something that can be posted for people who can't make it to any of these classes?
Sorry Fritz, no I won't be posting my PowerPoint.
I have worked very long and very hard on developing it. Along with trading lots of photos with other avalanche professionals, who wouldn't be happy with me "giving them away on the web," their photos online, etc... I recently had BACKCOUNRTY magazine "poach," a photo of mine from the CAIC website. My bet is that they won't pay me a cent for the use of my photo..... :cussing:
And most folks who attended the presentation will tell you, that there was "a lot more info," then what was JUST in the powerpoint. That's why you should attend. Its sort of like the difference between listening to recored muisc Vs. attending a live purformance......
Education at its best is interactive. Just sitting back watching a PowerPoint, isn't as useful as watching one with a live presentor; who'es there to also answer questions for you.
I personally, hated the third grade where the teacher just showed a filmstrip (I'm showing my age here...) and there was no one to answer the questions that I had at the end of the filmstrip.......:frown:
I really appreciate all the folks that turned out and attended the presentation. Its a total bummer to stand there and not have anyone show up.....:rolleyes2
Its really GREAT to have folks ask questions and come up and ask questions during the break and at the end of the presentation. Thank you for all your kind reviews. They mean a lot and even the "bad reviews," make me work harder at improving my presentations.
Cheers,
Halsted
Let me see a show of hands, of who's going to be there tonight.....
according to this thread there is at least three of us!
Where's Mir in this? She was ALL gung-ho on attending!!
Paging She-Ra, Blurry, Summit.....?
Hopefully they're out skiing!
I already am comitted to an ice rescue training tonight... I have avi training all weekend.
The talk was very, very good. Thanks, Halsted.
thanks Hacksaw & Pinner. it was a great refresher.

My new favorite quote.
Thanks Pinner, FoBP and Halstead!!
Thanks much Halstead! You could of picked on Mir just a tiny bit though.
Thank you all for coming last night, and thanks for your strong publicity.
But where did you all go right afterwards??? I ended up drinking with the bartender!
I was watching TeleHoar make out with his new gf in the garage. Then a fast drive back to ECo. for the local last call.
Thanks to you for organizing it, and I've got to drop you a few bones for some TIS stickers.
They are posted in this thread.
