I need new backcountry boots. Any recommendations for a shop in or near South Lake with decent selection and fit advice?

Yesterday’s pow stash was a little thicker today at The Star.
But I still managed to find some pockets of fluff on runs like “Aba-Zaba” and even scored some clean, untracked off of “Cypress Hill,” which required a wee bit of side-stepping, but was worth it.
Elsewhere? Lottsa Tahoe Boilerplate.
I chose to ski 102’s today and regretted the choice about 50% of the day…
So New Orleans is getting snow. Yay.
my sister’s place in Baton Rouge right now

It’s January and my co-workers in NOLA have more snow in their yards than I do…
It's all those wind farms diverting the storms away from California to the South.
I didn’t give a shit about all the dead birds, but I’m now on board with tearing down ALL the fucking windmills.

The west coast of Florida too. I mean this is getting ridiculous.

Shit, if poems are what it takes to fix the weather here goes.
East wind slows me down
Speed dreams vanish in its grip
Snow remains a wish
Race skis find their line
East wind fights to stall my pace
I just want to fly
Snowboards carve new lines,
Telemark turns test the knees—
Snow blades dance with glee
I'm out of plan B's
I just want to rip on skis
High pressure times suck
B-A fix your app!
The snow forecast is stuck
on permanent suck.
No time for haikus

Or if there isn’t

Way to charge the Gnar!
Lake Lowsnow is better than Lake Nosnow circa 1990-91
Better than circa 2012-2015. A few of those years we had nothing but manmade u til mid February.
I remember some great bump lines down the Ruet because they were unable to groom due to low snow. They were perfectly spaced.
Even last weekend the right off piste lines were skiing great. I'm just stoked to have coverage. Then again, the surf has been in reasonable for the past few months so there have been distractions.

I’ve been having a great time all over the mountain at Alpine. Everyone’s on groomers, leaving all the off piste for me! The right skis make a big difference.
Speaking of alpine, if anybody knows anybody that had a yard sale off the roof of their car heading down canyon this afternoon, I have your stuff. I assume it was a snowboarder since wrist guards were 100 yards past the mittens which were a hundred yards past the helmet and goggles

Definitely not the worst season on record and you can still have fun but let’s not try to put lipstick on a pig. Unless you like groomers and lack of crowds this season is leaving you wanting.
Anyone been out ice skating lakes? How is it?
I skied Kirkwood yesterday, mostly on chair six. I paid close attention to who was loading on chair ten, and except for two ski patrollers I saw no one get on the lift. I also saw a few head to the chair, only to be turned away. Off piste was not friendly from what I tried.
I wish I knew the place better. It was unbelievably empty.
At Mt.Rose they've groomed most all of the bumpy trails.
But have left Bruce's, a backside blue, with awesome bumps. Feels like you are in pachinko. Boing, boing!
Hella firm yes. But it flows, and gets better the more it is skied.
Other off piste is crappy, crusty, rutted.

I guess it all about ludicrous speed on the groomers at the Heave. Again
The corn on the backside of the backside of PT is very good until the arctic chill arrives.
Bosch, stay out of the sun and in gullies is the trick right now at KW.
Rabbits, Jim's, Fireball and lower Chan were all good last Sunday. Not like actually good but a lot of fun on a sub 100 waist.
Best snow I found on 10 was that gully lookers right on the face into Waterfall and then out to the groomer before getting too low.
Thunder Saddle (two man, one man) had really fun snow.
We even found half turns of powder every one in a long while. Okay, maybe that was facets, but fun.
I'm sure the cold air coming in today will lock all that shit back up tho.

Finally some things of interest in the forecast for next weekend and the week after. Fingers crossed they don't fade away.
I've worked a lot harder to ski worse snow before.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f11aaad329.jpg
Mag-amigo jrf recently introduced me to a new phrase, which I love: Exploration without Expectation. It's become a bit of a mantra.

And if you get tired of poking, just go schralp high-speed groomers, which are somehow amazingly perfect while off-piste sits just adjacent, angry and menacing.

Gawdamnit TGR! This fucking website sucks balls - can't upload any pics from the web platform. And only one pic from Tapatalk. ARGGHHHHH
maybe you had too much too fast..
I had a feeling things were gonna be meager after that big November storm but at least it laid down the base and it's not as bad as 2014.. I haven't gone skiing for 3 weeks I just post on TGR now.
Verrrrrry nice meter-man. way to get after it.
