Not totally exact, but an ok idea of what Bridger got.
Made it out for a few turns yesterday. It didn't suck at all.
is it pretty stable up there, even with all this new snow? nice shots. Free Money I Don't Deserve Check going to BC gear of some kind (shovel, beacon, probe, may be more), I'll get some of that soon.
booting up to the ridge = teh suk!
Just lots of sluff. Everything's pretty stable except the cornices right along the ridgeline. Today we saw a girl get hit by a cornice falling off the left wall of Hidden about 60' onto her, it was pretty scary. But the snow is good!

Looks like everyone in Colorado is skiing some sick 4000 ft. line down a 14er. I'm jealous. Sure can't complain about today at bridger though. 2 runs down 18 inches of settled untracked hero snow was not a bad way to spend April 26th. A few pics for some midwinter like stoke.Attachment 41276

well, it was not that stable if you tried it out. I found that it was breaking a lot more consistently on Friday.
skied the dogleg Friday in Wolverine cirque and had a 6-10" slab break on my partner and watched him get carried 50 feet until he slid off the edge of the slide path to safety.
Saw some guys down in the basin at the end of the run and they skied hourglass and that slid on them as well.
Both of these instances were on more Southern facing stuff.
Southern aspects were also sliding yesterday(Saturday).
My roommate was setting off slides on the ridge yesterday as well on southern stuff.
And what was up with everyone at Bridger being dipshits? I saw multiple groups skinning up the Apron below Hidden and half of them went and bootpacked up Hidden and another group traversed into the bowl below NW direct, only stopping when directly fall line from the run out and getting on their gear.
People were not really using their brains out there, maybe they think Bridger isnt prone to avys after closing? I just didnt understand.
I guess we didn't get on anything south facing, so I can't say how that was. I figured the less crust and sun, the better. Ski cuts on the virtues didn't fracture, but got quite a bit of sluff going, so I felt good as long as nobody was in the runout below me.
After watching that girl get nailed by the cornice (after everybody up top was talking about them, maybe she didn't hear?) and seeing the tracks directly below NW with a new 40' cornice I can definitely say there was some sketchy stuff going on. I love skiing Bridger post-season, but I'd rather not constatly worry about other people taking me out.
^^^^if I can read your sentence by decoding correctly, not often is my answer.
Yea this last weekend was definately variable. Me and Aenigma didnt see much in terms of nasty instability, other than ridge top cornice falls and sluff but we were also not dumb enough to ski something like hourglass or dog leg... But after diggin a pit on a north facing aspect with no wind loading, the snow appeard stable on that aspect so we had a good time. But my friend went sled skiing out toward fraiser and reported a lot of wind slab breaks and ended up just skiing low angle tree pow.
Well i guess if people want to be dumb... as long as they dont endanger others, go for it, its been a while since we had some "natural selection" to weed out some idiots who know better.
shit show 2 marrow?
goin up for a quick lap if I can get it together.
looks like +6" in the south mnts. probably the same up top BB
The snow line looked much lower in the south than in the Bridgers, but I hope you're right.
3 in. at YC base ~7am today. Very wet.
If my parents didn't fly in for my graduation, I'd be up there. Whats the big deal? This degree only took 2 years. I've already graduated from highschool and undergrad (although I skipped highschool grad for a track meet).
Still, I don't think they'd understand.
Went slogging around Bridger today in the rain with my wife on her new AT setup. Needless to say we did not make it up very high as the wife was not finding it real fun.
Anybody hit actual snow falling anywhere instead of a torrential downpour???
Maybe should have just gone kayaking instead.:frown:
well since its bumpt...
in town for a wedding at DPC on 6/7
possible beerz on 6/6, 6/8, or 6/9...
holla
Nope, made an early assault on blackmore yesteday and did not encounter snow. Not sure what elevation I reached, but I turned around pretty early -- when it was still fog/mist/drizzle. Came across a group of three and another group of four headed up when I was heading down. I bet they got wet.
I was looking at snotel sites yesterday to see if anywhere was getting snow, but I couldn't find anything that was really going up significantly. The water content was certainly rising, but snow depth seemed to be staying the same or dropping everywhere.
uh oh. I surprised it was raining at hyalite. lake still frozen? There was a lot of snow up there last week. We hiked from the reservoir to palisade falls. really wet and cold after a while. yeah, not a good hike in sneakers. Lotta snow.
Is that level of shotgun shells up there normal for this time of year? Snowmobilers are fucking animals, there is debris everywhere. People even left targets! Really nice ones actually, the ones that are gofers that change color when hit. we made sure to take 'em.
That's pretty normal. The people that shoot up Hyalite seem to think it's ok to leave their shit everywhere when they're done shooting down trees or blowing up their trash. The last time we rode History to S. Cottonwood we picked up 300+ shells someone so kindly left strewn across the road after shooting over a 12" thick tree. I would happily give up my gun rights in order to strip these people of theirs.
But to get back on topic, it seems like we did get a little water the past couple days, the rivers are a little high:

We were just driving down by N. Rouse and Main and the creek was overflowing and spilling into the homes and yards around the bridge. I can only imagine it is going to get worse before it gets any better.
^^^north rouse by the Boys and Girls club was nuts this morning! water up to my running boards.
went up to bridger today and did find some snow. had the entire chute of sometimes slide out. fun ride to say the least
There was water on/near the interstate near bear canyon as well (someone was kayaking through the fields). I'm sure Kagy's pretty much submerged by that boarding school too.
bwahahaha!
Are we gonna be under water soon?
North side of Bridgers isn't still all white? I would imagine most of sac is. By about when can I drive to fairy lakes, and start the arduous process of climbing and skiing? (i suck at hiking old jew genes + rheumatism = not athletic in the slightest.)
Dude, mon, take a hit a the ganja man, and you'll be kickin steps like Andrew Mclean, mon. Won't be worryin' 'bout the jew genes or none of that creakin' in the joints, dude mon.
made me laugh
The Gallatin is UP! The water at 35mph bridge was ~3 feet from the top of House Rock yesterday morning, and the water was chocolate milk. The typically calmer sections of the river were rolling. NOAAs pretty pictures show a nice, wet system circling us, keeping us wet for a few more days. Then, more moisture heading our way from the N Pacific. Whoopee! Heard the Yellowstone got wild in Livingstoned.. Any info?
Missing out on all the watersports in B-Zo.. stuck in Big Sky working.. not sure if that's good, or what.Quote:
NOAA Said:
THE PERSISTENT STORM SYSTEM THAT AFFECTED THE REGION FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS PRODUCED ANYWHERE FROM 4 TO 8 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH UPWARDS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES AT LOWER ELEVATIONS. NUMEROUS SMALL STREAMS HAVE RISEN ABOVE FLOOD STAGE AND WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE AREAS OF MINOR FLOODING. RIVER LEVELS ON THE BIG HOLE...GALLATIN AND JEFFERSON RIVERS CURRENTLY REMAIN BELOW FLOOD STAGE BUT ARE EXPECTED TO RISE AGAIN OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
- - - - -
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHWEST...CENTRAL...AND NORTH CENTRAL MONTANA LATER THIS WEEK. A FEW OF THESE STORMS MAY BECOME STRONG WITH GUSTY WINDS AND SMALL HAIL.
The Gallatin hit it's first peak 5 days ago in the Canyon. Hopefully the next warm spell takes it over House. :) Most of the flooding seemed to be lower level rivers and creeks.

The Yellowstone was high about a week ago, but is fairly low (relatively) right now. I think its flowing at about 11-12000 through town.
Looks like a foot of new at the lone mountain snotel site since noon yesterday. Anyone get out skiing? My buddy skied creamy pow on corn at bridger yesterday and is headed up there again today. Hopefully somebody throws up some local pics!
Dude, it snowed balls here south of whitehall in the TBR's and East Peak and whatever that is. (I'm at bros house)
The Bridgers are looking especially white this morning... too bad I have to work this morning. Anyone heading that way?
The south face of Lone looks to have at least as much snow on it as it did on Closing day. This is ridiculous. Had to pass up an opportunity to get hauled up to Cedar this afternoon.. no gear with me. ARRRGGHH!!!!
went up to b bowl today. It was another foot plus. Debris everywhere from the last big dump three days ago. skiing not so good on steeps, but lower angle stuff was fun bouncy silk!!! Not bad. I bet there's another foot up there tommorow. Be careful, that shit isn't sticking like you really wish it would.
