If you are happy with your Maestrale's inbounds then you likely be happier with some Zero G's providing they fit. I personally wouldn't ski either inbounds on a regular basis just like I wont use light skis or tech bindings. I see hundreds of people doing it every day I am on the hill though...Quote:

I've been able to ski the maestrale without baking the liner. I wouldn't do that with the zero G. Buckles are more fiddly on the Zero G.

Here is my assessment of the new zero g.
Coming from a maestrale v1.0 size 27.5
shoe size 9/9.5
Zero g 27.5
They definitely take a little effort to get on your feet. A little stretching of the shell pieces to get my foot into it
Toe box is nice an roomy. Heel pocket is firm and tight. I was skiing inbounds today alot of crud. But they performed really well. Good ski feel, and flex index is at least 125, much firmer than the maestrale.
You definitely can feel the lightness of these boot, either hiking with them or skiing.
Thing I didn't like is the upright stance and the cuff lean angle is a meager 13 degrees. Really, with all the range of motion, that was the best they could do.

Def a upright boot- not my favorite. Can anyone let me know if the stock angle out of the box is 12 or 13 deg. I am sure it's in here somewhere but don't feel like scrolling through 17 pages.

Honestly I don't get why they choose 12+13...that's kinda a bullshit "adjustment", more of a large tolerance for ease of use. I could understand 13+16 (the TLT6 and TLT5 have 15+18). Then that fulfills having a more upright boot to help alleviate tech ramp, and a more forward lean for when it's in a frame binding.
a bridge too far right there. The spoilers help. I think the 13 plus spoiler should get things to a tolerable spot. Kinda sad though- for a stiff touring boot that has so much forward ROM in walk mode ya'd figure they'd find a way to cater to those of us with flexible ankles. Ohwelllll.Quote:

Actually now that I'm thinking about it. Would love to see Wild Snow take off the top buckle, replace it with an Ultralock buckle and delete the whole back locking mechanism and see what happens (probably way softer). yes stupid idea, but that's their duty now with their endless parts bin they've amassed.

Those are pretty modern ski boot angles.
Add a nice thick spoiler in the back and you shoud be good.
Flipping to 13 definitely helped, you could shim your binding heel if you need a bit more.
So which is the 13 degree setup? Mine doesnt have an arrow, just a notch on one side. So is it notch up for 13 degrees?

If you look at the piece of black aluminum that has the single steel bar through at the bottom of the locking system it is kinda triangle shaped when viewed from the side. If that longer side of that triangle is facing down, it's at 13. If the longer side is facing up, it's 12.Quote:

NorCal if I read your assessment correctly, the bottommost bar where the walk lever clicks in on the lower shell, installed next to the graphic of +1deg is the triangle you speak of. Is this right? And if so, how would one even go about flipping this piece if it is pinned in to the shell extension that runs up the Achilles on the inside of the boot, which contains the female piece for the upper walk mode component?
It's held on by two screws. Undo the screws. Flip it over. The "bottommost bar" is offset. It's really obvious once you look at itQuote:

The higher configuration will be 13 degrees. If you have any questions, I'd just email Tecnica US. They have been responsive within 24 hours.
My pair doesn't have wear tape over the inserts, but they were demos and didn't come from a retail channel so it could have been removed.
Look at the location of the offset female threaded holes in the insert, and it will make sense.u

There is a little notch- that’s all I see. Certainly no offset that looks very obvious.

Nothing on there that I can decipher as telling me anything about 12, 13, more forward, less forward.
Any ideas or thoughts from this point in the process?
Also, still hoping to establish here whether out of the box things are set at 12 or 13. I’ll go to Tecnica if people don’t know, lots of conjecture advocating for both sides.
Looks like you're in 13, which is how mine arrived. Just to be clear, if you take your hand away, and the piece falls back into place, is the flat-ledge-side up or the sloping side? Is the horizontal pin in its higher location?Quote:

Yours isn't as obvious as mine, I'd have to look to see if the notch goes up or down for 13. If you install it, at 12 the bottom of the exterior bracket is against the step in the shell. At 13, there's a gap about as wide as your fingernail.

There is NO FORWARD LEAN ADJUSTMENT via screws/female piece/ski walk lever or anything like that.
Stock out-of-the-box is “12.5 degrees”. Adding the spoiler to the liner gets you to 13.5 degrees.

The pre production models have a slightly offset female piece. It’s not much, but it doesn’t take much to equate to 1 more degree of forward lean.
I thought maybe it was some running change but I just unscrewed my personal pair of production model and the female piece is definitely slightly offset. So they are adjustable.

We were told last winter that they’re 12 out of the box and 13 if you flip the female piece inside the boot.
I mean, you can see photos of all the components in my boots- received direct from the Tecnica warehouse yesterday (1 day transit time). Are these components visibly different than yours? Just sayin, there is zero adjustability by flipping the female piece in my boots- it just isn’t allowed by physics. The only way for the flipping of a female piece to impact lean would be if there was a channel where it sat rather than two bored holes. Those holes are static- doesn’t matter what the long or short end of the female piece is, period.Quote:

On mine, the threaded holes in the aluminum insert aren't drilled in the center of the two posts that slide into the shell holes, the holes are offset. Yours look like they're drilled in the centers, or close to it.
If Tecnica made the insert out of stainless steel, they could probably offset the threaded holes even more than mine (maybe get to 13.5 or 14 degrees), and it would be an easy upgrade to mail to people who requested them. Or just toss a pair in the box with new boots.
Can I ask, if the threaded holes are offset dramatically to one side or the other of the female piece, and knowing that the female piece sits freely and interacts with no other part of the boot, and the female piece gets plugged into static holes in a shell which the critical component, the silver bar that the ski/walk lever locks onto, how does whatever that offset is impact the lean? Seems to me that everything is dictated by the static holes in plastic which are unchanging.Quote:
