Anne-Marie Moser-Proell (i.e. Mother Klammer) is heading out on Saturday in Styria probably somewhere south-east of Dachstein. Maybe she can update us then.

Complete snow chaos again in Austria: most snow so early in the season since 1973 (Mondsee - what Subtle was referring to):

    Update: Mother Klammer says

"Bei uns traegt dich der Wind davon ..."

I guess it's all blowing in the wind.

    kitzsteinhorn area and the dachstein.
the kitz got about 80-100cm which have consolidated to about 60cm according to the measuring station at 2600m and the dachstein apparently has gotten 100cm according to the measuring at 2000m, even about 50-60cm down low. (I've seen photos from some guys on a weather message board and there were at least 50-60cm down in the valley).

And guess what: high pressure is back ! open end.

It's actually looking pretty good at the moment. Interior areas have got more snow than normal so far, and currently we are getting pounded by weather systems from the west. Strong winds and rain have destroyed the good conditions we had here last week (got two ski days in) but at altitude it should come down as snow. I caught some glimpses on the TV from Lofoten of mountains covered in snow. Of course, the west is more sensitive to the mild weather variations.

Somewhere in Salzburg. I'm guessing Radstadt.

EDIT: Actually it's Saalbach (I wasn't too far off).

stubai was decent yesterday, pitztal on saturday was windblown and meh. the east definitely got the most, anything west of salzburg and it depends a lot on what the wind was doing locally. snow did fall but did not neccessarily stay where it fell.

edit for: overall it seems like hemas and blissard are currently in the right place.

    The Post-Cast has come!
Finally, after years of asking, and Ripz designing,
and then them changing to ruin his fine work,
this site has changed and become better than before,
and possibly better than I was asking.

Now, when there is precipatation falling out of the sky,
we can track it over the past x hours to see who got the most,
and more importantly, know where to go.

The nose is easier to follow!!!

    Brilliant!
Sorry, it only covers CH and maybe Cham valley.

Now then, can they make it snow?

be patient young padawan. tomorrow should see more snow in the east and sunday could get really interesting for the whole northern alps. (eastern switz and fruther east)
right now the only skiable thing would be the glaciers and the kitzsteinhorn area(semiglacier thing). but west of the kitzsteinhorn there is basically no snow. (blown away on the glaciers or simply has not fallen)
but i would wait until next week because the weather pattern may be shifting. and it could get better.

after our discussion i see what you mean. not accum but replay capability. but it's not something new - it was like that on landi all last season.

fyi, i always thought this radar was far superior to the landi one too. still no accums, but distinguishes between snow and rain better.

now here's some stoke (sort of)

al and i went to the premier of "dessine-moi une ligne" (draw me a line), the new snowboard/ski flick featuring local boarder and Xtreme Verbier winner Geraldine Fasnacht. trailer here: http://www.lineprod.ch/trailer.html

the show started with a couple of guys drawing the movie poster/cover with graffiti on a blank canvas while a lone 50-something joe satriani wannabee guitarist played slow lead lines over spacey atmospheric music. (at this point i really wished i would've brought my camera). the graffiti end result was pretty impressive. then a couple of guys in "police" outfits came out and took pictures and took the canvas away. yeah, kinda cheesy, i tried to liven it up by shouting 'art is not a crime' but the swiss were nonplussed.

the movie itself was a mixed bag. the ski/snowboard shots were stunning, i believe most were taken around verbier, the bec des rosses and such. but they tried to get artsy and mix in overlays of guys doing graffiti work "draw me a line theme" during the ski sequences. lots of talk over the scenes with cheesy lines like "it's all about the feeling" yada yada. as al said, if TGR flims were hard core porn, this would be soft core, done tastefully. if you are interested in a film that showcases the alps with some very nice photography, look out for this film.

sunday. you glorious end of the week. delivering snow to alle of the northern alps. thiscould become the first real storm for everybody.
stil uncertain how much it will dump, but it will dump from cham to the kripp and everywhere in between, even a bit down to la grave may be possible. (ok the southern alps don't get anything, but who the fuck cares )

the east may be favoured again as they get something before sunday already
