Mrs Dee Hubbs just asked this morning: "do we have to do the TdF fantasy this year?" "Isnt your TGR site broken anyways"

The site is back just in time, I am so happy
Barring accidents, I can't imagine that Vingegaard can win it this year. I watched some of the Dauphine and Pogie never looked like he was working hard
I’m in for 2025. And it’s ok with me if Ms. Hubbs doesn’t want to take our money this year.
i'm in this year& yeah, something wild would need to happen to not see Pogacar in yellow

So we have two weeks to go. Who else is up for a league? I will set it up if sufficient interest. Or Dee can if he wants

Any other options for streaming in the US besides Peacock? Anyone here use a VPN or have some other secret source?
The TGR league is still there, and active. You automatically get registered into the previous leagues you joined.
^^^ ok, just logged in. Looks like Dee Hubbs and his charming lady have done well in the trivia contests.
Doesn’t look like any teams have divulged their riders yet.
I usually just watch the highlights on YouTube, but you could try a VPN and using one of the Euro broadcasters (see list at link below)that streams for free. That's always worked well for me for the Olympics.

Thx.
^^^FWIW I bought a one yr subscription to peacock last June for $19.95. When I contacted them to cancel last month, they offered a renewal for - wait for it - $19.95.
Besides the TDF they air a bunch of the Spring Classics, Paris-Nice, la Vuelta and Dauphine. And a lot of ski racing.
yeah, we definitely feel like we get our $$$ worth from Peacock thanks to their fairly extensive cycling coverage. Fingers cross they get rights to Giro some day
I just remembered we got a peacock Black Friday subscription forms dollar a month just because. Better check to see that hasn’t increased but good to know I can use it!
Always plan on the best streaming deals around Black Friday
Ill be peacocking coverage, hopefully without too many ads
I am hopeful to see some fireworks, even if it’s just Pogacar doing ridiculous things. UAE team look very strong. Can’t say as much with TVLaB, RedBullHansGrohe or Soudal
Then a bunch of random strong men sprinkled around the peloton
There is a really strong sprinting crew to choose from this year
Now that riders are showing on the list, I’m waffling on strategy.
The number of rider swaps are never enough to consider loading sprinters early then swapping to allrounders or climbers. So what’s the balance that minimizes too much shuffling?
And this mostly useless post is purely a bump to ask: Will we have enough players to make it fun?
(I see nine in the list…)
Teams all set?
It's an embarrassment of riches in the pro ranks this year and it was hard to narrow down to 8. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's lineups tomorrow--there are a lot of ways you could play this one.
The spread sheets are hot and heavy in the Hubbs household. The Mrs is listening to every and all prerace previews trying to find a diamond in the rough.
I have a significant favor to ask: I'm in France, and the tour will be coming right past the apartment I'm staying in on stage 19. And Stage 18 is nearby, so good chance I'll get to see that as well.
But I haven't followed the tour in years and I have only a passing knowledge of who's fast these days. Anyone want to give me a cliff notes version of who and what to watch this year? Any preferred (English language) highlight channels / commentators?

I fired up a TDF spreadsheet for the first time this year. It's pretty basic, but got the wheels turning... entering all the riders in to a database and coming up with some personal metrics to weight them and find the good/bad value picks seems like it would be fun next time around.
Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, Remco Evenepol are the big 3 to keep your eyes on for the GC and Mountain stages, particularly 18 and 19.
Stage 18 finishes atop the Col de la Loz, where Tadej infamously cracked in the heat in the 2023 TDF, giving up time to Jonas who went on to win the GC. I think the climb is different this year, but that stage should come with some drama this year with Tadej looking for revenge/vindication
Stage 19 could see the climbers duking it out if the GC is locked down, or could be full of GC drama.
So cool that you'll be there. I think stage 18 would be pretty exciting to see, but I imagine getting to and staking out a good vantage point will be challenging.
I like to watch the post race coverage by Laterne Rouge, he's on YouTube. For live, streaming the global feed through peacock is the best (is that available this year??). If I can't watch it, I like to check in on the live updates The Guardian publishes during the stages. Usually there's a update every few minutes throughout each stage. It's a nice way to keep up a little if you're stuck in front of a screen working or whatever.
We just signed up for Peacock Premium this morning for $7.99 a month to watch the TDF. Cancel after a month or whatever.
I invited my buddy/neighbor to join--he's not on the forums but he rides and skis and has been doing the TDF fantasy solo for the last couple years. He's nezzyrides. I told him we all agreed not to draft pogi or vingo. Kidding, I did not do that.
Awesome, thanks!
Yeah, I'm not sure we'll be able to get ourselves into the more interesting spots to watch stages 18/19. That seems logistically complicated. But it'll be cool to see the race live, even if we're in a fairly mundane part of the stage.
