Too bad. I called dibs first. Besides she's a fellow Oberlin Yeoman. With a far better voice (she studied opera voice) than the previous famous singer from Oberlin--Liz Phair. (We Oberlin alums treasure our famous fellow alumni the way we Jews covet Hank Greenberg, Sandy Kourfax, Zach Hyman [50 goals!!] et al)

Bump - heard this cover of “If We Were Vampires” this AM. Had to pull over and regain composure. The fiddle really adds to the mood

Why Tracy Nelson never got the fame she deserved is a mystery to me.

Gosh I love and hate this thread. So much beauty. So much sadness.

That song Subtle Plague posted. Ufda, I'm not crying, you're crying.
I still call it The Jake.

This song by Van Morrison off of St. Dominics Preview always gets me. I think it is the part about the dog and the wistful days of youth it portrays. It is suppose to be a song about reconciliation

Boy and his dog
Went out looking for the rainbow
You know what did they learn
Since that very day

Walking by the river
And running like a blue streak
Through the fields of streams and meadows
Laughing all the way

Oh redwood tree
Please let us under
When we were young we used to go
Under the redwood tree

And it smells like rain
Maybe even thunder
Won't you keep us from all harm
Wonderful redwood tree

And a boy and his father
Went out, went out looking for the lost dog
You know what oh haven't they learned
Since they did that together
They did not bring him back
He already had departed
But look at everything they have learned
Since that, since that very day

Oh redwood tree
Please let us under
When we were young we used to go
Under the redwood tree

And it smells like rain
Maybe even thunder
Won't you keep us from all harm
Wonderful redwood tree

Please redwood tree
Let us not go asunder
Let us walk through the wood together
Among all the others
