I mean, it has readily available hot water and a grinder that’s capable of espresso. Doubt it’s terrible unless they programmed it to do something stupid like have a 20 second extraction time.Originally Posted by Iowagriz;[emoji[emoji6[emoji640

I was promised we'd have new crown jewels tonight

The crown operates on Oakland hipster time.

@neufox did you buy? $37/lb for the gesha.

I did. I bought both the Gesha and Honey Gallo coffees. You want to buy some?
Talk about financially irresponsible, I spent fourteen hundred $ on coffee yesterday. I originally started roasting coffee partially to save money…

I’m down for a three way.
I bought the washed sidra last night.

But what in God’s name is this?
Some of the best coffee of my life. You gave it to me in Morioka.
Tgapp roasts some of the best coffee in the world.

Sorry mate. I don’t know how to make pics work.
K so how much do both of you want? I’d take trades or $. I’d like two kg of the washed Sidra (I typically roast in five hundred g batches).

In the market for a grinder- don’t need an espresso grinder, looking for something to primarily serve a moccamaster drip for daily/full pot grind.
Weighing options between:
Baratza Encore
Baratza Virtuoso+
Eureka Mignon Crono
Fellow Opus
I don’t think I’d go wrong with any of them, but curious if anyone has strong thoughts one way or another on these?
My biggest complaint about the encore is the noise. It is very loud, even for a grinder. I have not used the others.
I had heard that about them. my current grinder is pretty loud but no idea how they’d stack up
I have an encore that I use for French press. I like it. Have used it daily for several years. It’s easy to clean, and to source replacement parts if/when the rubber gasket tears.
If you live in a dry climate, the static from the grinds makes a mess.
Yes, it’s noisier than some, but you’re not leaving the grinder on for hours. No experience with the other grinders on your list , so there might be a better option?
I’d go for the Eureka probably for the flat burrs, but don’t have extensive experience with any of them.Originally Posted by JimmyCarter;[emoji[emoji6[emoji640

Jimmy where you based? I have an encore I will sell cheap in Seattle. I would ship it too, but they are heavy so maybe not worth it. Used it daily for a few years but I only make single pourover servings so I went back to a hand grinder to save on noise and counter space.
No pics.
Regardless— tgapp— the beans you passed me at our mini summit in JP are fricking phenomenal. Tell me more about them.

And muchas gracias.

ah yeah that's a good coffee but truth be told it is a middle of the road good coffee - i think other mag experts would agree. meaning - finding coffee that good in Japan (even in smaller cities) is totally possible and quite affordable as well.
I can't remember -- are you in Sendai? if so these guys have a great menu - they are buying good coffee:
https://www.invitrocoffee.com/line-up/
If you want a shop closer to Yamagata then check out these guys - can't really tell from their site but they appear to be great
https://dayandcoffee.official.ec/
Tokyo has (easily) the best coffee culture I have ever encountered - we went to quite a few shops that were easily as good or better than my coffee, and a couple that blew everything I've ever had well out of the water. truly world class.

Cheers, mate! I'll be in Tokyo again on Tuesday/Wednesday. Maybe I'll take some time to search for rad coffee on my roadie.
