Best part is that there's signs all over outside saying not to bring skis inside.

Giving away K2 Sidestashes, good shape, nonindemnified griffons, 181cm 108 waist. I thought they might make good skis for control work, my son used to have beater skis for that, but apparently not. Next stop--the dump. No, the world does not need another Adirondack chair made with skis. No, the world does not need another shot ski. No there are far more abandoned skis than the adaptive ski world needs.

The skis are pretty old but I'm pretty sure they were advertised as inflammable. Is anyone around here a K2 rep that would know?
BTW, apologies, I meant to put that in the Tahoe thread. I don't think I want to mail free junk skis.

Ha! During the filming of The Hateful Eight around Telluride and the San Juan’s, there was a snow drought. The cast and crew waited for weeks to be able to shoot snow scenes. So….they joined the locals in a ski bon fire. Not too long after, it snowed. When in the lift 9 line on a powder day, right next to me in the singles line was Samuel L Jackson smiling from ear to ear.

Riding a chair with two tourists today.
Snowcats are building a slopestyle course underneath us for about 25% of the ride.
Woman of the group is complaining heartily about the cats beeping when they work in reverse.

“Why do they make that obnoxious noise?”
“To warn people of their presence”
“Well, it is putting my teeth on edge and ruining my day”
“Kind of a First World Problem donchathink?”

Silence for the rest of the ride.

SLJ doesn’t seem like a gaper, to me anyway.

But cool. Didja share a chair?

Unfortunately not. That would have been a fun ride.

The filmed part of the movie Cobb, with Tommy Lee Jones, near Donner Summit. There is a scene where Cobb, followed by a reporter drives downhill at breakneck speed in a blizzard through huge drifts of snow. The scene was filmed despite no snow for weeks and mostly bare ground but you'd never know it. Hollywood has no need to sacrifice skis or virgins (are there any virgins in Hollywood) to get snow.

Whenever it gets really cold and also snows at Snowbowl, someone inevitably refers to the snow as grabby or sticky. Like, this is blower pow. Wax your shit.

Some of us have encountered snow skates on the High T at Kirkwood. Quien es más gaper? Snow skate or snow blade?

Overheard from below as I was on the chair at Aspen Snowmass after about twenty-four inches in the last four days:

Him: "Well that was definitely too much snow!'

    Her: "Yeah, that was awful!"

I saw some fat swallow tail snowblades yesterday. Not a gaper quote - actually kind of awesome. I guess the gaper part is me not getting a picture.

Spent an entire lift ride--bottom to top--listening to a guy explain to the young lady he was with how to carve on a snowboard--wrongly. The amusement was when he had to grab her shoulder to keep from falling over getting off the chair.

Got a lesson about inbounds avalanche danger on the glacier chair @ blackcomb last week. Guy was saying the people hiking spankys were dumb because it's so dangerous. I said "ahhh, it'll be fine!" and he asks where I'm from. "Ski the East!™"

"Well I am from Europe we know a thing or two about avalanche danger."

Kids race team closing weekend had a warm Saturday, ton of costumes. Kids in various costumes, parents took it as gaper day mostly in old 90s bright fartbags. One buddy pulled out a 80/90s CB jacket, glacier glasses, jeans, clip on dangly earing, whole bit. Having lunch on the deck older guy walks up and asks both of us about our orange ski boots (Tecnica Mach 1) and how we liked them. Said he's been renting for years and looking to buy. W/o skipping a beat buddy replies, we're just getting started skiing ourselves but so far so good. Guy seemingly took him completely seriously, thanked us and wished us good luck learning to ski. Laughed about that one rest of the day.

Later another buddy in fantastic/classy 90s Colouir onesie got stopped with line of how he saw us all skiing around and was super impressed, especially the guy skiing bumps with the boombox. Found my only exception for playing music while skiing is if you can do it in a fartbag on straight skis while carrying a large boombox over your shoulder on gaper day.

Not the weekend but an all time quote heard today. On the chair a couple of towers from the top. Some beginner women perhaps late teen - 20ish. They have e just skied off the lift and the one gal realised they rode up the chair the WHOLE way with the safety bar up (she called it the harness). Jennie, she exclaims - we raw-dogged it the whole way up .

I just about crapped myself I laughed so hard.
