I wish I could celebrate the turd man's eventual demise but we need a True Liberal running what was once the best party for Canada.

Signed a former lifelong Liberal and hoping to be again.

I have always maintained Canadians are liberals not whacko nut jobs SO will they go for a DIFFERENT Liberal like Freeland or Mark Carney (zero political baggage ) or whomever steps up ... stay tuned eh ?

Chrystia Freeland is/ was really good not just part of JT's wholesale virtue signaling atempt which is proably the beginning of his end

Jody Wilson Raybould was way over her head as justice minister/ AG but she was female/ FN so JT could knock off 2 virtues in one appointment, also I know people who know her and they laughed

Not sure why anyone would say she was over her head. I am one of the folks that you know that knew her. I laughed at how stupid JT was thinking she would be a good token. She got demoted to V. Affairs from AG (despite successful MAD legislation, changes to DUI legislation, judicial appointment reform, Divorce Act modernization, SA law reform, and legalization of cannabis) because she wouldn't toe the line on JT's lies on reconciliation. She ultimately left because she wouldn't be quiet about liberal corruption.

a good token for JT or a good token who thinks she can change the oldest/ corruptest game in Canada is pretty naive of both parties

This game is the big leagues so play or don't play

Trudeau leaves a terrible legacy for ruining a once great nation.

I’m not at all surprised that he resigned- there is no way he could survive the US winning two world junior hockey championships back to back.

What happened to the other thread about the US annexing Canada? It’s too bad that it got deleted- there was a lot of good info there.

In a Republic that doesnt know what the word " universal " means, where they can no longer look it up on goggle, where they try to bankrupt their citizenry with their own medical bills

to take over a constitutional monarchy with free HC is a stretch

Hockey is bigger than the liberal party Kevo at least in Ontario

    That is a shitty fact.
Ontario and Quebec needs to cut the amount of seats in half and spread it out west.

Cuz thats where all the people are back east and they should stay there

Some mouth breather was giving my MP a rough time on FB for taking all them airplane ridesn to which he pointed out he must cross 4 or 5 times zones to take his seat in Ottawa for a vote, also the constituency is the size of Poland and one must go thru the Yukon to travel to all of it, very different than SWO but thats the job

    to·ken: adjective
done for the sake of appearances or as a symbolic gesture.

I am pretty sure she was comfortable in the "big leagues". She was groomed for it, her Dad told Trudeau sr. that she was going to PM and Bill was instrumental in s. 35 being in our constitution. Arguably no 35 no Delgamuukw, and all that followed (possibly eventually getting to the same place through "honour of the crown"- or maybe not)

I'd consider voting for her. It's too late though, whoever they put out is going to get Kim Campbelled. (or in BC - Rita Johnsoned)

It will be an interesting one locally - I wouldn't have thought Taylor would have much of a battle provincially, but I didn't predict Claire Ratee and Sharon winning over the likes of Nathan either. Ellis Ross may win this one.

She lasted not even one term in the big league, what kind of a hockey player ( we are in Canada eh ) would last half a season ?

gee how does one get all the way to that big league that being the federal libs and suddenly realize there were back room deals and god forbid politics

    in politics ??

I think in Provincial politics what happened is yer great un-vaxed convoy people here in in the bible belt are pissed and the Cons have got them organized and so that was a Tough loss for Nathan for sure and actualy i thot it might go that way

As for the T man we will see, he has a lot of friends and good will in the FN and > 30% of Bulkley stikine is FN

and buddy slid me a beer at the SBC last week so me included eh

Might get a woman as interim PM, but no way the old boy’s club, in any federal party (well except the Greens, but they have no chance to form a govt), will elect a party leader that is not old school male. Shame that, but like our neighbour to the south, the system is not ready for a woman at the helm.

And remember, we don’t elect our PM. Hell, even the lib party has no mechanism to get rid of their leader if he wouldn’t resign, even if he was recalled as an MP under that legislation. Not sure, but don’t think the Cons have a way to oust their leader directly as well, even if they wanted to.

I thot JWR was only 1 term in any case she should have known the game by then

Don't really know the inner workings but you don't think Freeland could be party leader strictly on gender ?

One thing I am sure of is that Canada is not ready for a PM wearing a turban

Sure I think Ms. Freeland could be party leader. But I don’t think it would improve their chances in the next election. I have a low opinion of the intelligence of the average voter and their understanding of our political and electoral system - and there is enough misogyny in our culture still that it would guarantee the loss of the libs in the next election. So no way the party will hedge their chances of forming govt on a woman, no matter how excellent a leader she would be.
I hope I am just getting to cynical in my descent into decrepitude, and I am proven wrong. But like you said, it’s a dirty game.

There was a Freekanomics podcast a while back about large companies putting a woman in charge right before the fecal matter hit the oscillating wind enhancer. To be clear- things were off the rails but the train had not yet come to a complete wreck- when the c-suit folks decided to “call in some diversity”.
The thinking was that maybe the reason the person took the job was because they saw it as the only way through the glass ceiling.
Hence my Kim Campbell reference- there was nothing she could have done to make up for how much her government was hated, but she tried and “lost”.
I wonder if this will be a race to “not it” out of being seen as the loser or if enough folks want to be pm - even for a month (132 days for Campbell) to have a race.

Whoever is chosen- I think they are getting smoked next election. Although I am usually wrong. PP or one of his minions still has lots of time to stick a foot in it!

yes BUT the PM makes just over 400K while whomever ends up being the leader of the opposition will still makes 300 K so that has to be appealing while a lowly back bencher only makes a paltry 184 K hardly > a lawyer

so even in opposition who ever takes over from the JT will be getting a 100K pay bump and they don't really have to constantly be in shit, just appoint some shadow cabinets and natter away incessantly in the same fashion as PP breathe

in politics THE best place to be is elected , getting one of those salaries a pension and having no chance of having to get in trouble by actualy governing

So not making it to the end of your planned term of employment with an organization is a major character flaw - got it
