I've heard a lot of good things about that ski.

I have the Moment Commander in the firm snow slot. I'm on the 102, but I'd bet the 92 would be appropriate for true firm. I've skied my 102 in pow with good success. It charges firm snow pretty hard, also.

I'd love to try it. I love my MSP99s for low tide currently, they hold an edge pretty well in firm but guessing the 91 would be really solid.

Help me pick a firm snow ski

I bought 170cm Head SuperShape e-Titans (83mm) for firm snow….they rip. And they’re blue. And you can ski them all over the mountain. Who knew.

Liking the volkl deacon 84 as my go to in firm snow this season. Pretty versatile off piste and forgiving for what it is. Got it for coaching, running demos but ended up grabbing them any time it was firm coaching or not. Easy to vary turn shape and has a pretty good top end for an “easy” piste ski. Even fun in bumps.

Recently mounted up a 2025 enforcer 89, wicked nice ski. I had an enforcer 93 a few years ago and didn’t get on with it, digging this 89 tho

That's what you think. Then you ski it. I used the store demo all the time which led me to buy this one.

I have your 184 red tips. I like them a lot. Took them up to Kicking Horse, Sunshine and Lake Louise this week and had a great time ripping around.

Have you made it out on these? How do they feel?

Reviews are stellar but I don’t see a lot of chatter from actual owners.

Not sure what length I would pick, but that thing RIPPED the groomers and felt pretty OK in old off-piste snow turning into corn...so seems like a killer for those spring days that start with hard groomers in the morning but see more terrain opening up as the sun bakes it.
Waited long enough that I found a pair for a tolerable price

Got them out yesterday and I'm super stoked on them. Zero regrets about going with the 185s.

They rip. Instant boost to my best Carv score (for whatever that's worth). Not enough to catch the local PSIA examiner, but put me ahead of the high school racers on the carv app.

I have a pair of Laser AX's in a 182 and agree you get way more than a badge for the extra money. Unreal skis.

    I get the love.

I picked up a pair off of KSL last year and they have not disappointed. Great mix of a directional ski that can still be fun outside of a carve.

Primarily ridden in the Midwest and generally flatter terrain like Northstar with the family. Had no issues with knee high snow in the trees on the backside, just need to ski them really active with both feet because they are on the heavier side for their relative “narrowness”.

Haven’t ridden them in steep, or narrow technical terrain yet. I’ll probably bring them to Jackson Hole this year in case I miss snow when I’m out there in February and see how they do.

Groomers and chop are where these do the best, and have felt totally planted while cranking gs turns but they are still happy to initiate at slower speeds or on shorter turns. You’re not going to get too much of a pop at the end of the turn like a truly directional ski or race ski, but by sacrificing that stiffness it’s really easy to get them in the sweet spot of a locked in turn.

While I still enjoy messing around on softer “do it all” skis (Jski Allplays/Moment Wildcat 108s), the MSP 91s are much better suited for my preferences. As long as you drive them a bit, you’ll be good to go.

I just grabbed K2 Disruption 78Ti from EVO for $299 w/bindings. They're super fun on hard snow.

So I finally got out on my MSP 91s - Couldn’t be happier. I’ll post a full review after a few more days; there is a MSP 99 thread with a few solid reviews.

Quick notes; It’s slightly more “casual” than a typical high performance metal lam ski, however it still can certainly mach. It skis longer (in both length and TR) than stated, likes medium to long arced turns. A little nose and tail rocker allows for slightly more than average amount of “slarveability” for a skinny ski. The mount point is nicely in the gray area between modern and traditional / a little more tail behind you than like a euro made ski, allowing you to switch between skiing it centered and forward depending on what your trying to do. Other skis in this class probably are better high angle carvers or have better edge hold on ice. It also doesn’t have a ton of rebound out of turns. However, if you turn on the gas this ski stays super composed, rewards fall line skiing, surprisingly no speed limit.

I need to get these on more variable off groom conditions, but I’m a huge fan so far.

I think a lot of mags would really like these. They are a good skinny ski complement for someone who mostly chases deep snow on modern fat rockered skis…

Black Crows Mirus Cor. I ski these on Minnesota hard pack, probably the most fun you can have on skis in Minnesota.

I gave up looking for a ski like this and switched to tele. Most fun I've had on firm ski period. Doesn't matter what ski as long as you can bend the knee

I have the ninety four. A pretty sensational ski. And I’m pretty picky.

Agree with the Stöckli Montero AR comments; the ski is in a class by itself both performance and price-wise. Atomic Redster Q9.8 Revoshock is also a rocket and $400 cheaper . . .

At roughly half price for the ski and matching bindings, these Monteros are still the most I’ve ever spent on a ski…Feels worth it though.

little lost out there looking for a utah low tide ski. my ideal would be for the völkl karma to come back ,
tried the prodigy 1.0 (88 underfoot) mounted at -6 and didn't like it all.

are there any classic twins out there with all mountain performance mount -7 to -9?
have a pair of stance 90 coming but sense it's gonna be too similar in shape to my mantra 102,
maybe the qst 92 is what i seek?

basically 10% gapering in the park
90% bumps bumps and groomers and light dicking around off piste

    other quiver : m102 184
    blank 186
    bodacious 186
    rocker 2 184
    pon2oon 189

really wanting like 88-93 ish , maybe 94, underfoot in 180-184,

msp 91? qst 92? line optic 88 or 92? commander 92- recognizing its got some oomph?

anything out there with that mid oughts volkl bridge/karma feel?
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

    gmen.

Just back from skiing bulletproof and ice on new 2022 Kastle 180cm, FX96 HPs (pre TIs). Very impressive hold and carving ability. There is an 88 TI version that might be worth a hard look. Level Nine had the 96s for $350. Sent from my iPad SlideWright Ski & Snowboard Tools

Optic 88, the commander are much more traditional and demanding and not twin tip.
