This. Not that we don’t care about you Thaleia, but we would really really like the kitty to get the best we can offer. Put up a gofundme, brother.

I mean I can only speak for myself - but I spend a lot of money on some stupid shit - a lot of which doesn’t return much in the way of life satisfaction and positive feelings.

Knowing some innocent kitty is getting the best care possible is way more fulfilling than pressing the “purchase” button on my Amazon cart.

With tears in my eyes I sincerely thank all of you. I will consider your offer. Looks like I suddenly have serious buyer for a fatbike I've been trying to sell for ages, sorta took that as a sign. I've found a local group that neuters and gives shots to strays at reduced cost as well which makes things look a little more realistic.

That said bad news - he got out today. He ran outside, into several inches of fresh snow. I know he's used to severe cold but we haven't had much snow this year. He started back to towards the door to come in (!!), and out of nowhere my other cat charged at him and he ran off. Total shit show on my end.

I'm all but certain he'll return, but as of now he's out of the picture.

    First contact last summer

Awww - reminds me of our beloved diabetic wonder-cat Coco who passed away just over a year ago.

Cats are so great. This one is lucky to have you looking out for them Thaleia.

We found out about two years ago that our cat Nemo had kidney disease. We knew that it was coming to a close for her that whole time but godamn she was so healthy until just this week. I had her since before I met my wife, and when she (wife) started staying over at my place, Nemo tried to kill her in her sleep a few times…and then she slowly became my wife’s cat. Raised in a house full of our rambunctious kids she learned how to defend herself and play hard.

I can barely remember a day in the last 15 years that she didn’t sleep between my legs at night, or get in the shower with me in the morning. She had so much personality and would menace the dogs for fun. Just a little shadow always following us around the house. And then this week, just stopped eating and drinking and wouldn’t leave the closet. I picked her up on Wednesday and was surprised at how light and skinny she was. I called the vet this morning and he came over early this afternoon and that was that. The world seems a little emptier today.

Vibes Zion - so heartbreaking to lose a family member like that. Sounds like you gave them a great life full of love and security and that this love was given back.

Z, I am so sorry to read that. She sounded wonderful and you both very likely brought each other a lot of happiness. To have that candle go in your life can be tough. Take care.

Vibes Z3. Nemo has beautiful markings. How old? Sounds like she had a long life and hit the jackpot on her humans.

Loved the part about trying to kill your GF/wife in her sleep. Ms TBS sez “his wife must have really liked him”. And the part about the shower - most cats are hydrophobic

Our cat Ninja died of kidney disease. No idea he was even sick until he had a seizure in our bed. No idea how old he was, as he was a stray, but vet thought he was at least 16.

Sorry to hear about Nemo. Kidney problems seem to be kitties most common point of failure.

I realized I didn't report back on Emma's surgery last week. Everything went well and the mass that was removed has been sent to the lab. Hopefully we'll find out soon whether it's cancerous or not. Emma is doing well other than not happy at all to have to wear a cone. She doesn't go in till next week to get her stitches removed. I think we're going to have a hard time keeping her cone on that long, but we're trying to keep her away from the wound as long as we can.

She made it to almost 15 years old. She was such a funny cat, she used to follow us when we took our dogs for walks. She would follow us up the sidewalk meowing until we got about two blocks away. We used to think that after two blocks she turned around and went home and then one day we spotted her being a stealthy ninja and following us by hiding along the route, we laughed so hard.

Sorry, another story: Nemo and Edgar the dog were mortal enemies. She was always blocking his path up or down the stairs and getting into elevated positions so that she could swat at him from above, and he was always bluff charging her for scratching the furniture or any other behavior he perceived as bad. And then one day we took them to the vet together, a place they both feared and they found a common enemy. Nemo hid in the corner of the exam room while Edgar surrounded her and they snuggled together. They hid in that corner tight together until we separated them for the exams.

Your stories are most welcome, they're great.

This guy came back. Tried to lure him in with kibble - Nope. Tried wet food - Nope. But the power of catnip brought him inside lol.
