Grazie. I’m 100% for calling out abusers. I only ever regret NOT standing up to abusers.

True story: In college back east a segment of the Lacrosse players had a house and were slipping mickeys to the girls (and at times to their male friends who were with them) in cocktails. I showed up by my drunk beligerent irish self and banged on the door and told them to line up for their ass whoopings one by one for drugging people.. Fortunately/Unfortunately? they didn't take me up on it.

My M-I-L was married to the biggest asshole alive. She died over the summer, so I never have to see that A-hole again. yay
At the store I work at part-time, two local old timer women, (through the conversation about my M-I-L), told me that he abused his girlfriend before my M-I-L. They told it to me almost as if to ask how I felt about him, and I told them I hated him intensely. They kinda nodded, like they wondered why I was around him. Great! Locals thought I was an a-hole for associating with him. super
So…I’m cooking Xmas dinner for 10 friends and Mrs. Plug invited him. So now I have to not only see him, but cook for him. Seriously, I may kill him.
If your wife knows how you feel about the guy and she invited him to dinner anyway--a dinner for friends, not family even--you have a bigger problem than cooking for the guy.

For sure. But it’s a very specific problem really. She was super close to her Mom, and there’s specific stuff in the will, and she’s just too nice and empathetic.
Well maybe I'm the faggot America

Well to not directly offend the wife, generalize your statements to a “prayer for all the victims if abuse…etc”

    Msg sent, wife oblivious

Don’t need to kill him but you could have some fun with it.

I love to take holidays with my girl, but she is such a bitch to fly with

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

    Anxiety and company and presents.
Wife is a super high anxiety person. She can get downright mean when family is around. Her sister gave birth to their first kid late last month (they live in our neighborhood), so it's been a steady stream of family for the past 4weeks and it's been tough going. Yesterday she dragged me and our boy over to the sisters house unannounced/uninvited, to see the baby again, and proceeded to then scream at the sisters dogs for playing with each other and overstimulating her. Woke up the newborn and everything. BIL is super mellow and he even said WTF!?! and that we had to go (in a much calmer way than I would have in his position).

Looking forward to a nice break from family and some lowered stress levels.

Not to turn this HOF thread into the Tammy Wynette thread, but... I really wonder what percentage of couples go through and/or end in this "roommate" stage....

From reading this and the divorce thread (among other sources), it certainly seems like a LOT of marriages hit this phase... at right around the same exact time, too (right around ~12 years in)

Sounds like you need a patented Family Buffer. I'd recommend 1500 miles at a *minimum*...

It's always better to presume rather than assume.

Left my ski gloves out to dry, wife put them into a bin rather than in my ski bag where I always always always keep them. Got to the hill today and guess what I didn't have. Grrr...
