Also curious about this as a shorter guy - how does the 183 UT122 compare to the BC120 in the 180/187 lengths?

    Hi All!

IMO - the BC120 vs UT122 conversation really comes down to terrain/boots/bindings and expectations. The skis themselves are more similar than different -- they are 120mm+ reverse camber powder skis of course! Happy to dig into personal nuance any time with more data. But generally--

The BC120 is going to bring a little more pivot and have a bit more fore-aft stability due to its balanced reverse profile and having less taper delivering a 10mm wider in the shovel.

The UT122 is going to slice wind and sun effected soft snow even better than the BC120 due to its highly tapered design, and just be more responsive due to the shorter effective edge and narrower tip/tail widths.

@Jongle - I'd say if you wanted to replace BOTH those skis with one ski and keep the awesomeness of both, that is absolutely the Ultra Taper. If the question was more "I want something analogous to the bent120 that is also lighter and damper and has more backbone", then I'd say go for the Swallowtail.

    Hope that helps!

The UT122 is about 15% stiffer overall, has a strong tail, and its quickness comes from the tapered design which gives it a nice tight steering feel. It is super confidence inspiring and rewarding. I would describe it as "having a gas pedal"

The BC120 is a rounder flexing ski designed to feel surfy and balanced. It has a looser, more playful ride compartivately, and has a big sweet spot that can make all sorts of turn shapes in a huge variety of snow conditions. I would describe is as "super intuitive".

Thanks Marshall. I tend to like skis that are beefy while also not being overly stiff and that have a big sweet spot (Rossi Black Ops 118 and Sender Squad being all-time favourites). Sounds like that puts me closer to BC120 territory than UT122. My narrower touring ski is a Raven and I’m a big fan, but it sounds like the UT122 may be a little more “game on” than the Raven/Ren series.

Word! I'd say that the BC120 swallowtail feels like the right one, more analogous to the BO118 etc for sure. The UT122 is going to be more "game on" like the OG first gen rens, and notably more responsive than the modern/recent rens. The BC120 Swallowtail would slot in like a bigger fatter more pow Raven nicely. Cheers!

Jongle, what’s your bsl? I’m sure you can take a run or two on either if mine if you can fit your boot. Mine should fit between 283-303bsl.

Bringing Back The Best: Lotii And Other Assorted Love Songs

Looked for a HL thread to post about the R [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji640]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]]
Comps I skied today, but since it’s not currently in the lineup, and I don’t think there is a dedicated thread, this one should serve…

Had [emoji638]nd day at Jackson today on the available groomers

Took out the r[emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji640]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]] comps the first day this year.

    So good!!

I got in maybe [emoji639] days on them last year, and they are even better than I remember.

Glad I got a pair of [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]] cm R[emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji640]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]] comps when I could

Anybody got R120ST with the updated rocker profile on snow yet? All the R110 jabber has me thinking Marshal absolutely nailed the update. I know some of you fuckers are getting deep turns already, who’s been bold enough to let the swallows fly?!?

Appreciate for the offer, that would be awesome. My BSL is 282 though so I might be just outside the adjustment range. I'd still be keen to check if they fit though, if you're game. I'll shoot you a PM after another storm cycle or two.

Nothing new here, but pivots are mounted on my c113s as an experiment. Ssshh. There may or may not be a v2 in dev. On the right, r105 protos. Both mounted at -11. I'm planning to ski the ever living crap out of both this season.

That orange is one of my fav HL tops. If it was a ski type I could use I’d be all over it. Simple is desirable too.

While the rest of us are like «which Pivots to mount this pair with», Arild is like «all of them»

Digger de, the orange/gold combo looks great

They sure look good in a skin track. I hope some iteration will make a return--I let mine go due to life circumstances, but I'd buy another pair if the flat/reverse camber version came back at some point.

Takker. The risk isn't huge that I'm ever meeting others with HL skis up here, but theoretically, it could happen, and I kinda like mixing them up.

Interesting note on the flexes of these straighter skis. Never bothered actually comparing them, they just ski great, but

    194 FL113 - 10/10 until tail, which is a 9.5.
194 C113 - 8.5/10 pretty uniformly. Very similarly flexing to the FL116se, actually, at least in terms of uniformity. The latter will be such a blast.
    192 R105 - 9.5/10 until tail, 9.

Just waiting on some bindings. Serious question. Can you have too many pow skis?

Is everything sold out for this season? I had some spring preorder ut122 in my cart and I went to order and pay. Now says sold out. Guess I missed the bus.
