Circle of Madness - new AK based North Face film

    https://youtu.be/yGCeCAIc6A8?si=UbD_dvVR62jkNnMJ

New flick from TNF. Very impressive AK riding from Markus Eder and Victor De La Rue. I don’t think I’ve seen people trick into nasty steep spines like this before.

Saw it at a "premiere-ish" event in Innsbruck a while ago organized by the Legs of Steel guys. A preview of Sammy C's new project went first, then Level 1's Wasteland and then this. The difference between Sammy C and Markus Eder's level and the guys in the Level 1 movie was staggering. I think I was somewhat more amazed at some of the tricks (especially the speed) Sammy C was hitting, but the terrain in Circle of Madness was just another level. They don't even get to ski most of it, but just looking at it... mindblowing stuff. They're also super nice guys, while Carlson comes off as a a bit of a douche to me

I was in Haines when these guys were filming this. Besides being insane riders. They’re also 2 of the most relatable and cool pro riders I’ve ever met. Victor is an unbelievably cool cat. The sagrada familia zone is beyond insane. I flew over it and was wondering where they rode as most of it looks beyond steep and technical. They showed me their iPhone footage of the step down right out of camp. It looked gnar on a phone but on film they made it look so easy. They don’t talk it up. But when they’re skiing in that zone, support is a long way out. Most AK footage there’s a heli right there if shit goes bad. Those guys were riding the super gnar and backup was at near an hour away. They had one guide and 2 camera men as back up. I don’t know much about the boarder scene but Markus is the best freeride skier in the world right now. Has all the tricks and can charge big mountains. Plus he Fucked up his face, got stitches and went right back out to send it.

Sammy c gets dropped and throws down. (+filmed from a helo)
    Vs
Sleeping in a tent - hiking (+drone shot)

I have noticed human powered turns are less aggressive.
(Except the scandi and the Canuck)

I want to know how many of the peaks in la Liste were helo drops too.

Eder has been my favorite skier to watch for a few years now... i still remember seeing him for the first time when he was totally unknown his nine knights entry video blew up back in 2007? Circle of madness was awesome and had some really crazy drone shots that actually gave perspective to how gnarly some of the lines were (Dr Suess for example).

I didnt realize Sammy C put his new film out already. His projects were my favorite ski videos of the past 2 years, absolute bangers. Looking forward to watching his new one later tonight.

I even hate when there is a headshot and the guy is wearing a beanie and clearly in his segment he is rocking a bucket! (Happens way more over at NS)
I want Santa to be fucking real!

No offence on helo drops! If you are that good somebody is flying you to the top and filming you! Happy days!

Thanks for posting this, I really loved it

They were skiing that icefall like it was a pillow line at the local backcountry spot.

I liked seeing a little of the assessment part/decision-making/philosophizing, too.

I don't mind getting heli dropped. I'll do it for free and won't insist on being filmed I'll even not pretend to protect our winters.

As long you are down with nature and it is organic jet fuel A1 it’s all good!

    TNF resurrects itself

    Great film
    Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
    Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason
