    1) how to ski banff thread will help too

    2) passes: ar you coming back to bow valley this winter? If so get a mid week LL pass? (might have disounts on weekend days too)
Odds are discount card (released mid Oct?) will bring it to $100/day? Also a mountain collective pass gives you 2-3 days at each SSV and LL? (and reve, pano, and some US places)

    3) Stay in banff? LOTS more to do, eat, see. LL is sleepy and VERY quiet

    4) parking is fine, and free. Shuttle is nice if you want a beer after. Also free shuttle from banff to SSV, and LL.

    5) LL has snow making, so maybe a bit better? SSV is almost all natural, but both can be wide open for end Nov, or maybe just a ribbon. Who knows.....

    Hey all!
I've been massively silent on this forum because you guys are scary and my DIN setting is only 9.5

One of my favorite places in the world barely escaped a scorching this summer and my poor little town of Jasper sure could use a hand. We lost around 30 percent of our residences and several retail/restaurants as well. Small buisiness in town took a massive hit with some good people barely hanging on.
Marmot Basin isn't the most gnarly ski area, we aren't Kicking Horse, we don't get the snow of Revy but what we lack in burly lines, we make up for in empty slopes, lots of pockets and zones to explore and a laid back vibe that is very enduring. I describe Marmot Basin as a smaller Lake Louise without the crowds and a very hard to describe Alberta vibe.
We sure could use a hand with visitation this year. When the snow is good Marmot is an amazing little experts mountain where good snow lasts for days. (but the rocks are always lurking!)
We are an amazing family ski area where all levels of skiers/riders can enjoy most lifts together. There is also some neat expert areas to explore with short hikes or traverses to find the goods. Saturdays and major holidays can be busy but nothing like our cousin resorts to the south.
Please consider a visit or encourage friends and families to make the trip. As with most of the rockies skiing, february till close tends to be the best(IMHO) but any time can be great for visiting.
I may do a separate post as lots of people have no idea where Marmot Basin is.
    Thanks for reading...

Do you know if the camp grounds will be open this winter or if they allow overnights at the parking lot?

If you are asking about Jasper, no camping at Marmot. The winter campground at Wapiti is planned to open, just need to do some fairly minor electrical work to get it open. Once I hear an opening date I will post it up.

We made the looong trip to Marmot last winter from California. Love that place. There is a little something for everyone there, and Jasper is a real town. Great vibes all around.
"Holy Cow!" someone exclaimed from the back of the stationwagon.

And make sure you hang out with jetski and weibo when you go! Can't ask to meet nicer guys or have better guides to show you around Marmot!

We dropped in last season, from the UK - great little area, but needed more snow.
Loved Jasper as town - really laid back, and was saddened to hear of the desvestation from the fires.

Vibes to the town and hope things can be rebuilt - will be back at some point, unfortunately not this season.

I would agree that the first 1/2 to 2/3 of last year were poor for snow. Hopefully when you are back snow is at a normal to high level.

This is the year. I can feel it. We are overdue for a good snow year. Stoked to hear Wapiti will be available.

Came over 93 from Radium on Thursday and it was dumping.

Re: Jasper - we use our mountain collective passes there every year and probably crush an additional 5-6 days as well. Great hill, terrain for everybody and I've never seen it massively busy. We always stay at the Crimson in town, great spot with a good pool and hot tub, comfortable beds and affordable. Multiple friends lost their whole homes so def planning on getting out there ASAP.

With LL opening yesterday, we should probably start a new thread?

I'd do it but I don't have any Stoke to post along with it right now.

Does the Gondola spinning tomorrow justify enough stoke? 700m of vert to train those lazy legs back up.

Loooong approaches with outbaled for sure around there. No shortage of windslab to ski up atlas or down by Corbin. Generally a sled access zone. But I'm sure if you drive up the 40 you could find something
