Always humbling to look thru this thread. Solid work Track and DJ. Buke - That footing is objectively massive for that shed, your future generations will be proud.

Do any of you experts know how to flatten a warped cutting board. I’ve had it under plywood and forty lbs of dumbbell for three weeks and it hasn’t fallen out. Next step is to soak and do the same, but I am not sure that will be a lasting solution…

Look at the end grain. If the growth rings are all oriented the same way the problem will probably come back. But you can try the solution below, or if the board is worth it, cutting it into strips and reoriented some of the strip so the rings are in different directions.

If the ring are oriented in various directions the problem may be that if you always have the same side up, that side will be moist from wiping it down and the wood fibers will expand, making the top side convex. You can try moistening the concave side only and ironing carefully, This will expand the wood on the concave side. To prevent recurrence, either flip the board every few days and/or oil it (mineral oil) to keep it from absorbing as much water when you wipe it.

I made a frame and panel door for a cabinet. One of the stiles warped after it was cut, planed, and glued and I tried moistening and ironing and weights. It's still warped. Weight alone will not usually straighten wood that warped on its own. It will only work on wood warped by weight--like a sagging bookcase shelf.

Thank you for this. I’ll try the iron. The origin of the issue is I really only use the board for cooked meat, and only use the side with the groove…. So once I fix it I need to do a better job maintaining it…

Built a bunch of cabinets for our entry way / mud room zone. As expected, screwed a bunch of stuff up, but for the most part they came out pretty good. Also built a bench for that area. Recycled some of the birch flooring that I ripped up for the top.

Also, a quick shout out to the folks in tech talk that talked me out of buying a nice table saw and said to just get a track saw. That worked out well.

You could put a groove in the other side.
If the ironing doesn't fix it I'd just keep using it with the concave side up, if it's not too bad to use. I have one board that warps routinely that I just keep flipping over. Quite satisfactory.
Also, use your wife's good iron, not the one with ski wax all over it.

If your goal is Ukraine losing the war quickly….that would be a viable strategy. And in reality, the Russians build these DIY cats all the time. I seriously watched hundreds of hours of YouTube Siberians making these things. They do it a little different but they love their tracked vehicles.

Some of those Russian diy videos are incredible in enginuity , execution and most impressively total disregard for potential for loss of limbs

I built some more shit with my two hands this weekend. Wife has been at me to create a new mantle area around the wood burning fireplace with a lot of storage for stacked wood. Before and after below. Found some cool old salvaged wood at Second Use here in Seattle (that place rules so hard) and put it to use.

And yeah it’s ridiculous to have a TV up there but I watch sports in the kitchen which is a long way back from this wall.
