Haha. You mày have some issues.
Looking forward to the Aussie, but I won't have complete coverage this time. I'll probably spring for 24 hrs of TSN to watch the men's final though.
On sluff's comment on the "few" tennis mags... It's always surprised me a little about this joint. I've always figured tennis and skiing were very compatible and complementary as cross training. I figured there'd be more ski/tennis mags.

Having said all that and I look at my tennis and ski buddy communities over the years. I can count perhaps 6 or 7 folks that have been in both camps (ski and tennis buds). Not that many if I figure at least 100 ski buddies and 50 tennis buddies over the course of a life... Anyway... Glad I got that off my chest!

Is ESPN only carrying the women's side of the Aus. open?

No, men’s QF start after the women’s which don’t finish until at least 10pm est.

I woke up at like 5am this morning and saw Djoker giving his post match speech.

I love the AO and USOpen cause they’re for night owls but sometimes the other side of the world stuff gets a little hard on the schedule.

Thanks yeah I'm a lifelong night owl but I usually try to turn the tube off by 10:00 or so to avoid getting sucked into shit that goes way late. Every time I looked at ESPN it was women and I'm not huge on women's tennis.

Oh good, the Saudi's want to take over tennis now too.

Sports are going to be complete shit once they're all under the PIF umbrella, with billion dollar athletes performing in front of empty stadiums in the middle of the fucking desert.

The big story at this year's Roland-Garros is which Nadal will show up to play Xverev in the first round! Given his state going in seemingly no one believes he can win another title, and almost no one believes he'll be able to get by an in-form Xverev. And logically that might all be right, but Rafa is truly a beast of a competitor, especially at The French, so I wouldn't be so sure about any of it. We'll see.

The good news for me is I have Peacock, and they're broadcasting The French this year, so I can watch! Yippee! (Seems like tennis is almost as difficult to watch these days as ski racing!)

If you want something to pass the time and get you primed for this year there's a cool look back with the likes of Borg, McEnroe, Connors, Vilas, Evert, Navratilova, and many others at the 1981 French Open...

Fuck I hate Djokovic more than ever. He totally faked an injury for 2 sets. Limping whenever cerundolo hit a winner. Saying the unswept courts wrecked his knee (really, you want them to sweep the fucking courts DURING the match Djoko? What an ass. Fuck Djoko.

Now he's saying he doesn't know if he'll be able to play his next match. I'll apologize if I'm wrong, but I think it's just psychological bullshit trying to psych out his next opponent. I've seen him do this limping around shit way too many times (then miraculously he is healed when he can track playable balls down... Or he plays another 3 hours of A game tennis). Dude's a whiney faker. GOAT my ass.

So it's apparently a wolf this time. (No need to apologize.)

He did look like a creaky old man last night at times, even though he won.

Ok, I'm fucking wrong. Shit, that never happens. Djoko, if you are reading this - you have my humble apology.

Sure was awesome watching Andreeva beat Sabalenka. I really don't like her.

Ah well, she's just 17. Long road ahead if she wants it.

Don't like Sabalenka is what I meant. First because she's an obnoxious grunter/screamer. Second I tire of her anguished facial expressions. Third she looks like a juicer, total speculation but she has that look.

Andreeva seems like a great kid.

It wasn't a great men's final, but it was interesting. And it ended the right way.

On another front, related, at least, to tennis...

And to drift further, just to reinforce what a great commencement speech can be...

Although still reeling from my unwarranted attack on Djoko (and wondering if I have been wrong the whole time about his fakery....), I will add to Fomofo's comment that it was not only interesting, but saw some pretty good tennis on the parts of both. Nice to see Alcarez get another slam under his belt.

Quite enjoyed the ladies doubles final. I don't generally watch a bunch of doubles, but as a fading old tennis player I do find myself playing more so getting some good tennis strategy can't hurt. I have to say I was cheering for the Italians (and in particular Paolini, because I am also a midget).

Battle of Surfaces - Federer and Nadal Clay/Grass exhibition in 2007. For while we wait between The French and Wimbledon. Appropriate, n'est-ce pas?

I like Fritz but he was just overmatched today. Maybe if he could have gotten more serves in... I agree with what McEnroe said after the match, that Ben Shelton is the America with the biggest upside. But still, quite an accomplishment by Fritz. And Sinner's pretty good, all props to him.

Yeah, Sinner was not to be denied today. But, I did think it odd that Fritz tried all day to beat him on the baseline. No energy to come in and pressure him at the net? Didn't help Taylor that his first serve basically abandoned him. I did manage to catch a fair bit of the open this year (on tv) and quite enjoyed Paolini's run. One of the most entertaining matches for me was a first round match between her and Andrescu.
