I'm legit missing my annual trip to see my sis/BiL where we load up on oysters n martinis at Grand Central before taking the train to Flushing and a late night of tennis infused with too much Heineken/bubbles.

So happy to see the tournament back to full post-covid strength

    Word.

Not a good outing for canuckistan... First time since 2008 we haven't got anyone past 1st round.
Leyla has a good doubles partner though. You yanks are looking strong! Nice upset of Tsi tsi fly from the young Swiss, kid's got game.

Yeah, I did not expect much out of her against Kvitova, but she sure did surprise.

Happy Trails John Isner, a damn good Dawg, 17 year pro, former top-10 in the world, and got to go out in a 5 setter in Flushing.

What a match between Zverev and Sinner. Classic in every way and super gutsy performance by both. Congrats Sasha, hope he's got enough in the tank to give Carlos a run. Today should be fun with the battle of the young yanks.

Very entertaining US Open this year, looking forward to the rest.

CoCo looks SOLID. Where does she hit trouble on the way to the final now? Or is it likely she gets there?

Yep, this has been a very entertaining Open so far and I'm loving seeing Americans (meaning the men, cause the women have been great for a long time) make it past the 4th round.

Yesterday was a good slate for sure.

    Just a brutal game.

What was it that was shouted out from the stands that so pissed off Zverev?

I'm not sure, but I think it was "Deutschland uber alles" according to one article I read.

I watched most of that (great) match but never heard it and it was never repeated.

Incredible win by the 20 year old American Shelton over countryman (and fellow youngin) Tiafoe to move the unseeded American onto the Semis to face Novak.

First time two Americans faced off in the Quarters since 2005 and the youngest American in the Semis since Chang in '92.

Hell ya BMills! I think I mentioned I liked the kids game last year but holy shit he's really made a statement at this year's Open. Great attitude too. The US is back on the men's tennis stage I'd say.

Going to be some very good tennis for the rest of the week. Maybe the maple leaf gets a slam in women's doubles....

Also should mention I think Shelton's game has the potential to give Joke some challenges if he can keep his 1st serve percentage up.

First time ever for 2 American men of colour in a quarter as well. Good sign for the future of the game unless the living dead pickle ballers infect the planet leading to collapse of the world as we know it.

Medvedev's starting to get outgunned in the 2nd, US Open is always fun for the younger, faster, stronger players. More upsets here than I see on grass or clay where finesse is more of a factor. edit AND JUST LIKE THAT HE STOPPED THAT RUN.. My point still makes sense to me though about the hardcourt favoring speed and power over finesse

The Americans have some major tournament losing streaks to break. Someone needs to end the drought. I think it will be Coco.

Protesters glued their feet to the floor in their seats. Can you say saws all?
