Chance to Save Outdoor Shop in one of the PNW's Last Unspoilt Mountain Towns

I am not the seller/proprietor, but Ferry County is an unsung gem of a place on the verge of losing its sole outdoor gear store, The Outfitters - I figured that someone on this forum might be interested in buying it (or at least might know someone who may be interested). Republic is perhaps the last great ungentrified mountain town in the PNW; it is still affordable, friendly, and authentic, and has easy access to a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities in the Kettle Range. There are no chain stores or stoplights in the entire county, and crowds are never, ever an issue. It is still pretty conservative, but there is also a substantial hippie contingent, and the nearby Ferry County Co-op is a Northeast Washington institution.

Altai Skis are based just to the north in Curlew for a reason, as the Kettles are their prime territory, and rowdier terrain in the Kootenays is an easy drive north across the border.

The links below have additional info. Again, I'm not the proprietor, I just think it would be a damn shame for the Ferry County community to lose such an important link to the outdoors..

Republic Brewing is a great local hangout. Great beer, friendly locals and any restaurant in town delivers.

It does seem pretty cool. Why is the store closing?

It's a uncrowded mountain town ie nobody lives or goes there..... Looks like trying to diversify into a outdoor/fabric shop still can't pay the bills.

There is a bike/ski outdoor shop just north of the border n Grand Forks I'm pretty sure is going up for sale or just closing soon. Wildways in Christina lake (20km away) is also for sale (bike shop mostly). Seems tough to keep a shop open in these tiny towns.

It’s not a mountain town in the sense that most picture. It’s a great out of the way community and very isolated, there’s something like 3000 people in the county. Tons of recreational opportunities but no infrastructure to speak of. Most tourists pass through town before they even realize they have, it’s small. I could live there but I don’t think my partner would want to. There’s not a lot of transplants, it’s mostly people that grew up there or nearby and stayed or left then returned.

Places that I think are similar are John Day and Burns OR, Lakeview OR, Winthrop WA, Downieville CA, Eureka NV etc. you get the idea.

It's been that way since the store opened (in 1954, apparently). The real answer is probably e-commerce taking business away I bet.
