We like so many of the same skis that I'm sure you would love them.

They feel like a skinny Kusala with (obviously) better hard snow performance.

Reusing old Marker demo binding holes on FR110s, got some NIB 2016 Marker Jesters. Gonna figure out the perfect mount location for me.

What glue/epoxy should I use? I might keep the bindings on there for a while longer than just figuring out the mount. Epoxy seems to give me more peace of mind, and I don’t mind doing a little extra work to remove later on.

I asked elsewhere, but wanted to get it in here too.

I'm a novice, but my thinking is that if you plan to remove a binding... your glue should be weak from the first mount. You should be thinking no glue, or at most-- a white wood glue.

If you plan on redrilling and playing that whole game... epoxy is just going to complicate your world.

Yeah, most of the strength comes from the threads, not much from the glue, glue is just to keep the water out. So I’d just use something basic if it’s short term. Apologies if you already know all this

With that being said, slow set marine epoxy seems to be the popular for the best “glue” if that’s what you’re looking for. west systems g flex is a good one

I use bathroom silicone adhesive from the hardware store for this sort of thing. It is quite solid, with great bond, and highly waterproof, but easy enough to remove when needed too.

I’m old school epoxy. It does bind the wood fibers. All depends on how solid the wood core is or if you have titanal all under the bindings. If you’re worried about removal you could always lube the screws lightly. With goop.

The silicone is a perfect sealant. But not sure it can soak into the wood.
I’ve used carpenters glue in a pinch.

Titebond 2 is basically the same as SVST ski glue and is what I have been using for the past few years with very few issues.... but bathroom adhesive is a new one. Makes sense in this application... might have to give it a try.

Ordered up R110s. Pretty amped! Figured combo with my R99 comps for a solid 1 - 2 punch for shallow snow ragging..

For those of you who want to use epoxy but still have easily removed screws try this - Put epoxy in hole like normal and THINLY coat your screws with clear kiwi shoe polish. I just have a small flannel piece of cloth that is impregnated with polish that applies a light film without any residue buildup. Be sure and get polish clear into the bottom of the threads. The polish acts as a perfect release agent that is thinner than the ones often provided in epoxy kits. I've done this with many rifle and shotgun actions that are MUCH more expensive than any pair of skis and it works perfectly, and with a wide variety of epoxies. The epoxy makes a perfect threaded hole around the screw.

Hey man! Thanks for inquiring.

Under foot and inside the wide points of the ski, the shape of the rocker on the production skis is the same as the beta skis and prior cad rendering. The change was to add a little more kick in the tail, bringing it from 2cm of tail height to 4cm of tail height.

The betas skied rad at -8 to -8.75 but the tail could drag for some skiers when skiing off edge in grabby snow when mounted much more forward than that. I definatly wanted a bigger sweet spot than that, and for the ski to better accommodate more forward mounts than that too, so felt it was important to make the change in production to deliver the best skis possible and not sit on an update. This update solves that small quibble.

More than happy to unpack in more detail! LMK. Once the skis are in my hands, I will do a tech email on them too.

I did a double take when I saw this profile on the R110 page too - the tip and tail rise looks more abrupt and extreme than Marshal is describing, not much like the original profile or any of the other R/FR shapes. But I think it may be a feature of the linked drawing not the ski itself… the ski below is the one Marshal sent out in the April design update email as the production version, which matches the described changes and looks much more like a slight modification/improvement on the R110 beta.

I will update the HL website with photos of the production topsheets and rocker profiles for every ski we are doing, and of course send out a tech email on all of this in 2-3 weeks (ie as soon as I can).

given the vigorous nature of bringing all of this to life in a quite short amount of time, I am super grateful to all of the feedback and dialogue on these points and totally welcome follow up q’s any time.

My apologies if my drive to nail the design got ahead of my communication around these shapes. I will absolutely endeavor to clarify and simplify going forward. I truly appreciate the support and passion for this project.
