Thanks, team! I figured he was fishing a bit. We have a LX and love it, but the wife loves the older body styles. Bullet dodged.

    Listen.

You buy that thing. Then when M complains about it being too slow, you spend another $20k dropping a crate LS in it. Next thing you know, you're down a kidney, nobody's going to college and your life revolves around your LC whom you call "my precious."

    Ask me how I know.

This might as well be the thread for GX questions… sorry

Old GX470 - factory wheel finish is flaking off real bad. Any recommendations on cheap / quality wheels that don’t look like dogshit?

New OEM wheels are stupid expensive.

Used OEM wheels are going to have the same issue - pretty standard for mid 00’s Lexus..

The cheaper wheels on Tirerack / Discount tire look like a 16yo designed them. Too many spikes / bolts / skulls / flames…

Knockoff TRD wheels from ebay look like… knockoff TRD wheels from EBay…

If it were up to me I would get OEM FJ Cruiser / Tacoma steelies - but my significant other vetoed that…

If you like em, maybe just refurb? Unmount, sandblast & powdercoat? Might cost as much as aftermarket rims.

Or find a set of clean takeoffs from an overlandbro

That bolt pattern is on every 4Runner, GX, and Tacoma -- why not pick up some used OEM aluminum wheels that are in good shape? I bet you can find a set for $100.

    This.
Depends on what area you are in how many take off GX460/470/taco/4runner Wheels are floating around. There are tons around here. I actually have three sets of rims off GX470s. The awful Chrome ones that originally came on my rig that are peeling and have a set of useless rollers on them, a painted silver set that was a little bit flaky that I repainted with gunmetal wheel paint and mounted my snows on, and another painted silver set that I also painted gunmetal and have summer tires on. One set was free, one set I paid $50 for.

That said, a few styles of the AGP wheels look pretty sharp and there are guys in both Reno and Sacramento selling them mounted up brand new with 265/70-17 falken wildpeaks for $1,300 for the gx/yota, 285 a couple of Hundo more

I just noticed that this rig should be in the license plate thread. And I still can't afford this as a toy. I do however wish I could.

Fwiw, my 100 series with 283k miles just completed a 2500 road trip with zero issues. The air lift airbags really helped with the 5 bikes on the hanging rack and fully loaded with camping gear etc....
Still doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes.

Been putting AMSoil in my Yotas lately. Supposedly good for 20k or one year.

Powdercoat the factory rims. Will cost less than buying new aftermarket, most likely be stronger and lighter, you don't have to mess with offset, and you get to accessorize with coloring of your choosing. Unless you like neck tattoos and want to date the Hawk Tuah girl. Then I'd get some black Methods at Les Schwab and skip the decision fatigue.

HA!!! Shared this with M. Too funny.

Also, per the wheel conversation. I had to take the 20" wheels of the LX when we bought it. Found some great Toyota tundra wheels on Craigslist for $200. Seems like I remember there being quite a few available at the time.

My wife just picked the new 250 and I will say the tech is impressive and I enjoy driving it. I wouldn’t replace my 80 with it but I’m impressed.

Were you trying for the low mileage 80 series first and came up short?

Certainly not. I prefer my 80s with 200k+ miles so I know they were broken in and will last.
