I have decided that despite all the fuckery, I am still there just for the terrain. Not much else. Sundays are a fun with friends day in the lot. The kinda thing that you can't really do at the other resorts. We try to spend as little $$ as possible on the rest of the mountain. I own no Abasin stickers, shirts, hats, etc despite skiing there for almost 30 years. If I go to the bar it is because it is probably shitty outside and my friends are in there, but I try not to. The rest of the on mountain restaurants I usually ignore. This season, I'll make it more of a point because I just gave them $150 for a parking reservation pass.
At the end of the day, the skiing is better (IMO) than anywhere else in the county. If I had to ski Keystone, Loveland, Breck, or Copper, all the time, I would probably just go snowmobiling or something.
And this my friend, is basically the attitude of most Jaded Local Gen X'ers that still love skiing.
The Range Phase is over. Acceptance has set it. Resigned to the fact that although it may not be a good as is was, its pretty fucking good. You realize that you have the resources to quit, move, burning it down but you don't.
Maybe if I was Gen X I would be sanguine with this shit... but I'm not so I'm not

I'd feel a little less butthurt if they at least gave the season parking pass holders priority/preference at booking a reservation before the general masses.
Old's Cool.
Loveland is kinda meh. Chets is a good fall line but to me the lines just don't ski as well as pali, plus there's less terrain. ridge is cool I guess but opens too late and its no east wall. I don't understand chair 8 at all.
And flat except for a few places.

Don't get me wrong, LL is fine, probably higher on my list than the others around here, but it just doesn't have as much of a draw as the terrain off Pali or the EW. Whatever, first world problems...
If I lived out there Id probably think differently about it. Ive had a LL pass for quite a few years. and ski there quite often as my job brings me through the area enough to justify the season pass. Plus, the Powder Alliance days are nice. Terrain-wise you are all correct but I can pull up to the front row parking and not fuck around during the mid week. Weekend skiing dent exist in my world as Im usually at home in Georgia chained to the stove.
Thats a really broad generalization that really doesn't hold any water. You tried the mountains and didn't like it. I tried the Front Range and couldn't wait to get the fuck out. And I have a long list of places that are not expensive in a relative sense that I'd love to live that other wouldn't.
So if you are trapped by your circumstance, own it. People move everyday, frequently away from skiing and biking. It's a choice. No more no less.
Oh...and skiing. Put me solidly in the "I don't get Loveland" camp.
But Wild Child is 52°!!! (IYKYK)
Loveland's negatives are well known. Positives include: not on a mega pass, same side of the tunnel as my house, cheap beers, no lines, good vibes, skiing is fun. Those things keep me coming back and often choosing it over other options, especially after whenever they get the Ridge open. Oh, and free parking [emoji41].

There are more positives than negatives. Location for midweek is fantastic. I have a few customers that do work around Denver/Golden area from time to time and it's pretty easy to fly out to Denver and take the drill crew skiing for a day if there is enough room in their schedule. Which there usually is and most crews travel with gear so they are usually ready to go.
